Moriah has Bronchiolitis

I took Moriah back to the ped again today. I wanted the doctor to listen to the cough because it has gotten way worse since Monday and after she has a coughing spell she will breath quickly as though to catch her breath. Doctor did hear wheezing and prescribed a nebulizer for her. I have to pick it up still. I am a little nervous about giving her the albuterol but I guess it is the best thing for her right now.

I just want her to get healthy again! I am getting so depressed about this.:(

She'll probably fight the nebulizer. We had to do it in front of the TV to keep her distracted and calm. But she did great with it and you will be very pleased with the results I think. Zoey was breathing better immediately. I think at first we were using it 4 times a day, and then by the end of a 2 week period it was just as needed. I don't recall all the specifics as this was a year ago with bronchiolitis. But it was really a godsend for us.

Hope she feels better soon. Hang in there mama!

She will definitely feel better with the nebulizer! I agree with April, she will probably fight it. It might help to let her play with what she can, the mask maybe? So it's not a scary thing. Hugs Mama!!!

Well her first dose was a waste. I don't think any made it in. She fought with me the entire time. Sad this is defintely going to be a 2 person job. Our tv is broken but I tried distracting her w a video on the computer but she was more disturbed about the machine than anything.

She is so wiped out from this illness. I have never seen her this sick before. I am actually in tears right now. Sad

Poor little girl, and you must be so exhausted! :bigarmhug:

We had to use the nebulizer on Nicholas when he was about this age. He fought us the first couple times, and it was definitely a 2-person job. He was okay with it after that, and even started to ask for it.

I hope Moriah is better soon!

That sounds awful Sad Have you been able to figure out a way to use it without her fighting it so much? I hope she gets better soon!

is it the strap to her face kind or the blow in her face kind of nebulizer? Liam was good with the blow in your face kind but he fought the other one like crazy. I would let him push the button to turn it on and then he would sit in my lap while I read a book or we watched TV and the medicine just blew in his face. The first couple of times I had to lure him into my lap with some M&Ms, then he would sit and eat them while I slowly moved the medicine towards his face.

He has not had to use it in almost a year and when he sees it in the closet he says, 'I get cincin, Mommy?' I can't believe he remembers and/or wants it!!

i hope she feels better for you soon and that you don't catch it. the respitory stuff this spring has been awful!!!

What a horrible week!!!!!!!! And to makes things worse, I am coming down with some sort of cold virus and so is my 5 year old!!

It is the mask type nebulizer for Moriah and she does SO much better when daddy hold her and I put the mask to her mouth. She gets a little sucker when she is done with the treatment (she doesn't really eat them, just walks around holding one) So she sees me getting the machine ready and she goes to where I keep the suckers.

With consistent use over these past couple days, I have seen a ton of improvement in her breathing quality and the sound of her cough. It still sounds junky but hearing it very productive is a good thing, I guess. Her fever is gone thankfully. She got up to 103 rectal on Thursday and that freaked me out.

Anyway, what an ordeal. Thanks for all of your input....

Ok, if you read it this far: this is a totally random question but did any of you eat lunchmeat when you were pregnant (from a fresh package?) If it is fresh and you know isn't spoiled is it ok in moderation? I am dying for a ham and cheese sandwich and I think I am going to just go for it!
