Is this a phase?

I can't tell if this is a phase that Moriah is in or if she is still recuperating from being sick and/or so used to being carried around while she was sick...

The child wants to be carried 24/7. If I put her down to make breakfast, lunch or dinner, she cries and cries (which sets off her coughing that she is still recovering from) Really, any time I put her down she cries. I actually when to the bathroom while holding her once because I just didn't want to deal with her screaming and pulling on me! It is so nice when DH gets home because he can take her for me. Although, she isn't too happy with daddy these days!!

I try to distract her by setting her down and playing puzzles or toys with her because I am just sore from carrying her around! She just wants Mommy and nothing else.

Did or are any of your little ones going through a similar phase where they just want to be carried around? It may be still because she is recovering from her virus and she is just tired (she didn't sleep much last week and neither did I!!!)

Hayleigh is doing it right now but I think it is because she is teething!

Ohh, Erin. I wonder if Moriah is teething, too? 2 year molars for Hayleigh?

My back hurts for you just thinking about it!

Maddie is definately more "clingy" lately and has started the seperation anxiety a little but not where she wants to be carried. I would agree that teeth may be the cause.

Josie definitely went through a stage like that, around 19-20 months and I put it down to teething her eye teeth. As soon as they cut, she went back to normal.

Izzies doing this too. I wasn't sure if it was a new phase because she's tired of seeing her brother getting carried around all the time, or her teeth, or a combo of both. Hopefully it'll pass soon, because its making dealing with a fussy infant who doesn't want to be put down even more difficult.

Maria hasn't been doing this but if it's because of eye teeth, then I'm sure she'll join the UP crowd soon enough!!

If the 'cling on' kids are able to be up in a wrap/sling I'm sure that might take some of the strain off the Mamas! When and if Maria gets to this phase, she's going to be up in my Mei Tai!

Addie has been in this stage for a couple of months now. And I'm sure she's not teething. I've attributed it to sensing that things are getting ready to change (new baby). She is SUPER clingy though - and it's always got to be Mama! Poor DH - she refuses to go to him if I'm around. She'll give him hugs & kisses, but then instantly wants me to hold her. I'm bad though - I just give in 95% of the time. I know that soon enough, I'll have to carry/nurse/tend to the new baby, so I'll give her the extra attention for now. Most of the time she just sits on top of my baby bump. I did that with DS when I was preggo with DD, too.

We are still working on the bottom left eye tooth. She has good days and bad. We know it is going to be a bad day when she will not let me go when I am heading out the door for work (DH stays home). If I am around, DH is ignored...

I don't know if it's because Zoey's had some health issues, or if it's because I'm pregnant...but it's very common here and has been for a while. The bigger I get the worse it gets.

Oh yes and we're constantly teething, too. It took 2 months of gnawing on her hands and touching where her eye teeth are before they poked through the gumline, and no sign of the bottom ones yet. Or 2 year molars. Ugh. I hate teeth.

Thanks for the responses, girls. She has gotten better with the clingy-ness, thankfully! We are waiting for the 2 year molars. Ugh.
