Went to her dr's yesterday... good news.. she does not have hypoglycemia like they first suspected(yay for going semi going back to our regular diet)... bad news.. the hypoglycemia she did have is a symptom to something else they now believe she may have.
All of her blood tests came back and all but one was ok.. the one that was off was the blood test that checks the amount of cortisol being produced by the adrenal glands when there is a major stress (aka being sick), her levels were borderline low. They are going to schedule us into the ER for a day, hook her up to an IV (not sure I can handle that again.. but I will do my best).. then pump her with the chemicals her body (pituitary gland) is suppose to send to her adrenal glands to check the levels of the cortisol being produced and take blood every 30 minutes to run the tests. Depending on those results, it will tell us if she has it and if she does if its an issue with her pituitary gland or the adrenal glands themselves. But so far they are diagnosing her with potential Addison's Disease... I read about it an hour ago and yeah.. at 3am I really should not be reading this stuff.. I am in tears of the causes.. don't want to think of the worst case scenarios on this one...
Best case scenario.. she doesn't have it and we move on (but after reading the info.. its sounding like she may have it which means at least 2-3 pills a day for the rest of her life.. I can handle that no problem).. worst case scenario.. by what I am reading.. if its the adrenal glands that are the fault here, it could mean a tumor (cancerous) is on her adrenal glands and we have to go through all the fun stuff to get rid of it...as I said, I should not have been reading up on this at 3am.. worst case scenario = scaring the **** out of me.
Gonna need lots of T&P's ladies that its the better case of all the scenarios I have been reading because since January.. all we have been experiencing is worst case scenarios with everything(our luck really sucks this year)...
Also if anyone has experience with this or knows someone who does.. come this way please and inform my brain with all you can...my brain is now a sponge.. let me absorb your knowledge on this.
Huge HUGS! I hope it's the best case, or at least just the pills! KUP!
Addison's is scary. I hope she's cleared of it. T&P your way for sure.
Well.. little update to add to this.. tomorrow is the day we go into the hospital to find out if its her pituitary gland not sending "the signal" to her adrenal glands or if it is and her adrenal glands are not responding. I am being over-prepared this time.. I think I will be packing everything but the kitchen sink in case something comes up and they admit us.
Also a downside.. she seems to be catching another cold.. this is odd for her because she rarely gets sick, but a public health nurse told me that her immune system wouldn't be back to 100% yet so hoping she doesn't get sick but if she does.. we will be in the right place tomorrow for them to deal with it.. lol
Wish us luck and I will update tomorrow night or if they admit us.. when we get home.
