UPDATE Aug. 7: Thank-you so much everyone. I wanted to update that I have been officially diagnosed with optic neuritis and have presented with what seems to be an acute attack of MS. It got very scary at its worst a couple days ago with tingling/numbness all over the place, even my face and lips. I am in the middle of a strong treatment of steroids (IV then oral) and our plan is to force this beast into remission - FOR GOOD! I'll keep you posted.
Hi gals. I am so sorry I've been away from here so much. T.J.'s pretty high maintenance with all of his dietary needs (multiple food protein intolerances). But I'm in the midst of a health scare and need all of the positive vibes I can gather going forward.
I had a sudden decrease in the vision of my right eye on July 5th and the suspected cause is either a stroke in the optic nerve or an inflammation of the nerve called optic neuritis. I've had an MRI of my brain to rule out brain tumor (most frightening time of my life waiting for that one) and passed from specialty to specialty (optometrist - retina specialist - neurologist - internist - ophthalmologist) and I'm completely uninsured. So this is a nightmare (financially, physically and emotionally) and I need a happy ending very soon!
Of course I'm not mentioning how tough it is to care for a busy toddler and keep doing everything that I do for him (I'm a SAHM and sometimes WAHM), making all of his foods, etc., dealing with food trials and watching for reactions with this worry and diminished sight.
I'm waiting for an appointment with a neuro-ophthalmologist (the top in the field for diagnosing and treating visual problems relating to the nervous system). The amazing ophthalmologist I found (the first doctor with a fantastic bedside manner I've dealt with) is helping me source one.
So if you're still reading, thank-you and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
H n' T.J.
