Default Well, the kids aren't sick...

but I blew out my knee Monday night. The doctor said she thinks I tore some meniscus and possibly my MCL too. I'm in a splint mid-thigh to almost my ankle and need an MRI to see what damage I did. Yay. That's going to take months and months of waiting. Super fun when you've got a couple young kids to contend with.

The knee hasn't been that great for several years, so it was probably a few small injuries here and there until it just went out altogether. I had been crawling on the floor with Ben, and he went tearing down the hall toward the kitchen, slipped on the lino and cracked his head off the floor. I jumped up and grabbed him (his head had this huge goose egg immediately) and then quickly got him into the van to take him to the doctor. We thought he might've had a concussion. At the clinic was when the pain shot through the inside of my knee, and has pretty much been there ever since if I try to bend or twist at all.

Oh man! You just can't cut a break can you? I know it's unlikely, but I hope you get in for the MRI soon.

Oh nooo... That seriously sucks. I hope the damage isn't too serious and that you can get it taken care of quickly..

Oh honey, I'm so sorry. I've had 4 knee surgeries now with repeated injuries, and will end up with a total knee replacement before my 40s (I've been told). I can completely picture that splint and have probably worn the same one at least once. Please take it easy. It sucks that you need to wait that long for an MRI. I would think if you tore MCL that they would put a rush on it? If it's just meniscus (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is), once the initial injury has subsided it won't be too, too bad until you're seen. I had some torn meniscus that I lived with for 5-6 months at one point, and my Dad has some right now. I'll keep my fingers crossed that that's what it is. It's a very easy fix and you're back on your feet very quickly. Hang in there. This sucks!

My dad goes to me the other night "You're too young to need knee surgery" and I said "How old were you when you had your first knee surgery?" and he says "Before you were born", then I go "How many operations have you had, including your double knee replacement?" and he says "Oh I don't know. Maybe 5". Thanks for the crappy knees, Pops. I think that a few months shy of 40 is pretty darned good without having surgery yet!

This made me LOL Lisa. Sorry about your knee and I hope Ben is better. I agree with the others...you sure can't catch a break!
