    Intro

I married a wonderful man, Mike, in 2006. It was a whirlwind romance, but we're as happy as we can be! We welcomed our first baby boy, Evan, in October 2007. It took us 8 months to conceive him. I had a completely natural delivery at a wonderful birth center, and the same midwife who delivered me when I was born, delivered my son. It couldn't have gone any better than it did. He was born at 39 weeks, and weighed 9lb 12oz, 21 inches long. My labor lasted only 9 hours from start to finish.

My little munchkin has a due date of 9.8.10. I'm predicting this one will come at the beginning of September, and will be a girl. We are planning a homebirth and I am so excited to give birth naturally again!

    Tests:
First BFP on 12/29/09, which was the date of my LMP when I was pregnant with my son in 2006...thought that was a weird coincidence.

    Appointments:
    12/31/09: Beta HCG-->140

    My wonderful family:

This is me and Evan before he was even 24 hours old:

And another pic of my little man...love the hair!

I hope you ladies don't mind if I leave my notes made throughout this pregnancy.
I enjoyed sharing this board with you all...even if for too brief a time.

    Random Thoughts and Other Information:
Got my BFP on 12/29/09 - I was hopeful but not really suspecting a BFP. No big signs that told me I was pregnant before the BFP.

First prenatal scheduled for 1/13/10 (5 weeks 4 days) - Saw some fluid but couldn't see baby yet. Scheduled to go back in 2 weeks for a second U/S. Blood Test Results = HCG: 2600 Progesterone: 30

Second prenatal with scheduled U/S 1/27/10 (7 weeks 4 days) - U/S revealed a baby measuring 7 weeks 2 days and a HB. The U/S tech tried a few times but couldn't measure the HB. It was apparantly too slow or too weak to track.

Morning Sickness: Began around 5 weeks but was mild at first. Worsened at 6 weeks, constant nausea with vomiting once daily, specifically upon first waking with an empty stomach. It's even worse now at nearly 8 weeks, constant nausea and vomiting twice daily the past few days.
Surprisingly it's better now, not gone...still constant nausea...but to much less degree. Nausea decreased at 10 1/2 weeks.

Third prenatal 2/23/10 (11 weeks 3 days) - U/S revealed baby measuring more than a week behind and no HB.

Latest news: We are expecting a GIRL!

I go by Andrea or Andy and I am 24. I married my hubby Mike in 2008, he is 26. We had our first child in April of last year (2009), his name is Kaelan and he is the light of my life. We are both looking forward to growing our family further this year, we both always pictured having kids close in age so a 17 month gap qualifies I guess. I am looking forward to this pregnancy, I loved it the first time around so I'm hoping that is the case this time too. I am amazed at how quickly it happened for us, this was my first cycle off of birth control so I am very thankful for our blessings. I am officially due September 6th 2010. I am hoping for a VBAC this time around which my doctor is very supportive of so wish me luck!

This is my family on Christmas day 2009:

I'm Sarah, 27 years old. My husband of 7 months and partner of 7 years is Vitaliy and he's 32. This baby will be our first, and we got pregnant on our first cycle "trying." I think I was more trying, and he was just acquiescing to all the sex. We got our BFP on 12/26/09 with an FRER. The digital pictured below is from 12/29 though. Just felt SO much better to see the word "pregnant" than to see a pink line. I've been still obsessively POAS everyday, just to see the lines get darker. EDD is September 1, 2010, and we are planning a home birth. I'm looking forward to finding a midwife and all that!

June 21, 2010 at 12 pm: New midwife (CNM) home-visit, rescheduled for...
    June 24, 2010 at 9:00 am:
She was fantastic!! She is a CNM who home-births and I just think that is amazing! I have found so many CNMs totally bound by their practices and don't want anything to do with home-births, let alone VBACs. In the state of NC in order to home-birth she has to have OB back-up, and she does, so that is another added plus. She is fine with me delivering at home anywhere from 36-43 weeks gestation. She wants me to call as soon as I think I am in labor though so that she can be with me for the entire time since I am a VBAC. She carries all her own meds and equipment and does her own tear repair and everything. She will come with an assistant, and she has a birth tub for me to use free of charge. I just have to buy the liner. If my membranes rupture she will let me go as long as needed unless I develop fever or there is meconium or any other risk factors. She said she is not particularly on the conservative side as far as transfers since she can normally tell from the get-go if we will make it at home or not. Obviously as long as she believes I can do it safely at home she will encourage me to stay. The only thing she is not comfortable with is if the baby is breech, but we will cross that bridge if we ever have to. She said she does know other midwives who are very comfortable with delivering breeches, so there would be options.

And are you ready for this **drumroll** she is only charging me $500 to reserve my spot and then she will bill my insurance for the rest!! Most likely I can even get the $500 back from my insurance if I file for it.

June 11-27, 2010: DH gets block leave before deployment.
June 29, 2010 at 10:00 am: B/p 116/72, baby's h/r in the 160s, did the GD test with no symptoms (nausea, shakes, etc) this time, she thinks baby is breech at this point. I met Kate who is the midwife's apprentice, and they included Silly in everything they were doing
July 2, 2010: No GD (level was 73) and I am not anemic.
July 2010: DH deploys for one year
July 11, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 pm: Introduction to Homebirth at Durham Chiropractic. My MW and her assistant Cher (who I am hoping to meet) will be speaking.
July 13, 2010 at 11:00 am: MW appointment in Carrboro. B/p was 114/70, h/r was 140s-150s. She is pretty sure he is head-down but posterior.
July 19, 2010: Past, Present, Future Tarot Reading; Six of Cups, Two of Pentacles, Four of Wands. Predicting baby in four weeks?
July 28, 2010 at 11:00 am: So BP was 118/72, and baby's h/r was good. Did the GBS swab. We are pretty sure he is posterior, but he seems to do that on long car rides, so I'm not too worried. I also have a HOME-VISIT in two weeks... yay!! My mom seems to think I have dropped in the last day or so, and mentioned it to my MW. It is agreed that this may just be a mid-late August baby. Time will tell, but that is what my "mommy-instinct" is telling me too. I have a feeling my next appointment may just be my last. ONE MORE WEEK and I can stay home to have him... yiipppeee!! I have been having TONS of BH and even some real ctx intermingled in there. And I am getting that whole "pelvic bone is tearing apart" feeling lol. Measured 38 weeks.
August 9, 2010 at 11:00 am: Home-visit with Cher was wonderful. BP was 108/70. H/r was in the 140s. Measuring 37.5 weeks.
August 17, 2010 at 1:00 pm: Carrboro visit. BP was good, GBS negative, h/r in the 160s. Baby is very low in my pelvis. Measuring 41 weeks. ROA.
    August 24, 2010 at 9:00 am: Home-visit... B/p 120/80, h/r 140-150s.

    Jennifer's Space

    Intro
Hello! My name is Jennifer. DH is John, we are both 26 and highschool sweethearts. I have 2 sons. Gavin Andrew is 8 and my blond-haired, blue-eyed angel (I swear he had to go back to his great grandparents on both sides to get those genes). He is an ADD kid, poor boy got a double dose from both parents, and can never sit still, but despite that he is the sweetest most helpful, obedient kid ever. He is always happy and smiling and everyone is his friend, and he has a sensitive side that always shows up and catches me off guard at the most unexpected moments. He is so smart and intuitive and knows things about how the world works that has his teachers struggling to catch up. His brother, Kaemon Gregory is 5 and the yin to Gavin's yang. He is very impulsive and emotional all the time, but can sit still and quietly read a book or color for hours (was truely amazing for me to watch when he was 2 and Gavin still wouldn't sit still long enough for me to read a book to him). He is my mischeivious one and is very stubborn, but is so smart and can read and write simple sentences already (which floors me as I recall the hours and hours and hours spent with Gavin last year in first grade struggling with the same things he's grasping with ease). It amazes me every day how much alike and unalike they can be (at the same time!) and how they can make me love them more every day. After a long wait, I've finally convinced DH to let me have *just* one more. My EDD is September 13th, 2010! Although I am hoping for a girl this time around (so I can expirience all the pretty dresses and girly things) I kinda believe having a third boy would be the universe's way of balancing the scales, as my father always wanted a boy and ended up with 3 girls. DH is wanting another boy, because that is what he knows and is comfortable with, the idea of a girl has him nervous.

Our family on our first white Christmas:

    Appointments:
1/4/2010: Check up with regular Doc, I'm definately Preggo! Beta test at 548! not checking for doubling tho b/c I have no history of risk factors
2/3/2010: First midwife prenatal appt, bloodwork and paperwork! Fun fun!
    3/3/2010: 2nd midwife appt 12W! HB at 162bpm, Fundal height at 10cm
3/31/2010: 16w visit everything looks good and baby very active, Fundal height at 20cm!! decided to move up u/s and get in to see the consulting ob so we can see whats going on in there!
4/21/2010: Big U/S; It's TWO healthy girls Girls!!!!
4/28/2010: 20w visit, listened to both heartbeats, measuring at 27cm
5/4/2010: 2nd ultrasound, babies look great! The Dr. we saw was pretty negative though and wants to elevate my care to high risk and majorly increase the number of interventions b/c of the twins. We will probably be finding a new back-up o/b!
5/26/2010: 24w midwife visit, I'm getting big! 32cm! Babies are really active, it was hard to get a heart rate b/c they kept kicking the doppler! hr at 132bpm and 145bpm! We got to tour the new birthing cottage. It's so beautiful!
6/7/2010: First visit with new backup o/b. Went great! got super cute 4d u/s pics and the doctor was really cool and laid back. She is exactly what we were looking for and is very refreshing after the last Dr. was so doom and gloom.
    6/22/2010: 28w midwife visit scheduled
    7/6/2010: monthly ultrasound/ backup o/b appt scheduled
8/24- Girls are breech but otherwise perfectly healthy, about 6lbs each with no signs of impending labor

    About Us:
My husband Greg (27) and I (25) recently got engaged and married after being together for a year. We both come from close knit families and look forward to starting our own. While this pregnancy was a bit of a surprise, but we are over the moon with excitement. We are having a little girl, her name is Emma Lyn.

    Pictures:

    Taken 12/31/10
    33 Weeks

    34 Weeks

Smiling with her tongue out at 24 wks 2 days

    Important Appointments and Things :

02/19/10 - First Prenatal appointment scheduled. Regular boring stuff and we got to hear the heartbeat! 165 to 170 bpm!

3/14 (?) - Took an Intelligender test for fun, results said it's a girl! It was right.

4/9/10 - Anatomy Ultrasound at 9:00 am. It's a GIRL!!! She was a little camera shy for fun pictures, but everything seems good. I'll get the official results at my next MW appointment on the 19th. Emma's weighing in at 9 oz and measuring at 19w2d instead of 18w3d.

5/25 - Had some blood work done to rule out Obstretric Cholestasis - got the results on 6/08 that I do have it. ugh. NST twice a week and a u/s every other week until delivery.

6/11/10 - OB and 1 hour glucose screening for gestational diabetes and was tested for anemia. Passed both tests! Also had a NST for the OC, assuming that went well. They are scheduling me an appointment with a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist (only deals with high risk pregs) to discuss the best route for induction/bloodwork etc with the OC. Weight is at 167 for a total gain of 16 lbs.

6/15 - NST -stubborn at first but all looked great. Fundal height showed 26 1/2", weight same, Ultrasound showed her at 28 weeks 3 days (3 days ahead of schedule), weight 2 lbs 11 oz.

6/17 - Consultation with a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist to discuss my condition and the best course of action as far as testing, induction, etc. *As long as she continues to do well with the NST's , ultrasounds and kick counts (and I don't go into labor early) I'll have an amnio at 37 weeks to check lung maturity. If she's good I'll be induced right away.*

6/29 - Next ultrasound to check growth and cervical height. Cervical heigh was normal, still lots of BH contrax. Officially on bed rest. Baby Emma weighs 3 lbs 14 oz. Measuring on target at 30 weeks.

7/13 - U/S for growth (32 weeks by LMP/DD). Didn't get how far along she's measuring, but her u/s showed she weighs 4 lbs 11 oz! All her measurements are corresponding. She's in the 57% percentile for her size/age.

7/22 - Overnight stay at L&D went in with contractions going for a few hours (anywhere from 10 to 5 minutes apart). Monitoring showed contractions every 6 minutes. Cervix went from long hard and closed to a bit dilated and soft in 1.5 hrs, prompting the overnight stay. My MW tried to do a fFN but my cervix bled from the spec so that was out. Did a GBS test which came back negative. By 7 am, I was still having contractions every 6 to 10 minutes, close to 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Sent home after getting steroid shots to boost her lungs just incase. Strict bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy.

7/27 - u/s for growth measuring at 34w3d. 4 lbs 15 oz (OB thinks it's closer to 5 lbs as the weight can be 10% off either way). Fundal height at NST showed 35 wks (was 33 both appointments in the week before).

8/3 - NST with OB who will be preforming amnio, should have the amnio scheduled at this appointment!! Repeated the GBS test (even though the last one was negative to get it on the books between the standard 35 and 37 week mark). NST looked great, fundal heigh was 34 weeks.

8/06 - Went to NST feeling really off and having lots of contractions. BP was 134/100 and only got down to something/94. NST looked fine but with real contractions coming every 4 minutes for about an hour, I was sent to l&d for fear I was in labor. Stayed overnight because there were some heart decel's but all turned out okay. A u/s was done Sat (8/7) to test for fluid which was fine. Was sent home to do a 24 hour urine test and keep on the strict bed rest. Still no cervical change on Sat am (1 cm 50% effaced and -1 station).

8/10 - Last growth ultrasound. She looks great! Measuring 37 weeks and 6 lbs 9 oz and still a girl. NST was fine as well. BP still high (something over 94) but the 24 hour urine test came back normal as did my blood work. Weight is back down to 177 (was 180 on Friday) for a total weight gain of 26 lbs.

8/16 - Amniocentesis scheduled for 2:30 pm (of course we have to get there early at 1:15). Should get the results back the same day or first thing Tuesday depending on if my OB gets a chance to talk to the lab that night.

8/17 - Induction day (assuming her lungs are good and ready!).

    EDD: 09/07/10
