ellsabunny is getting too long for most of the ones i've read about - my arms are just too short to hold her comfortably or securly in them. i've been laying her in my lap with one arm supporting her head and sort of leaning forward a bit to get my boobs in the right spot.

it works for now, but other ideas would be great!
Oh boy, as my LO gets bigger I get lazier about switching nursing positions! With a newborn I'll switch up cradle, cross, football, etc. Once the LO is better about latching on, I'll pretty much stick to cradle with a Boppy or pillows, or upright (like when she is in the Moby -- I'll just nurse her straight up and down). Oh, I'll also nurse face to face while lying down on our sides -- this is a GREAT position for those lazy mornings!

WRT to the pumping questions -- I generally nurse one side and pump the other (sometimes at the same time, or I'll nurse one side and then pump the other). I switch which side I pump, so I'm not always pumping the same breast. This morning, I nursed our girl on the left while pumping on the right and I got 5.5 ounces from the right breast. I've found that if I nurse both sides and then pump, I'll only get an ounce or so. I don't get too stressed about my LO not nursing both sides every time, even though I'm exclusively breastfeeding. She gets plenty to eat and this method helps keep my supply high.

The side laying hold is my favorite!

I'll have to give the side-laying hold a try - and nursing straight up and down sounds like it might work for us as well - thanks!

And another question (also a sorta funny story)...

Does anyone else's LO 'attack' their breasts?

Just before she latches on sometimes, Ellsabunny will make this ferocious face, growl at my breast, get the nipple in her mouth and shake it (like a dog shaking a toy), and then give it a good telling off. As soon as she's beaten it into submission she latches on great and nurses like a champ.

No clue why she does it - frustrated hunting instinct or just making sure it won't attack her first? Any similar experiences? Or funny nursing stories?

Oh yes! Karah does EXACTLY this....growling noise and all! It's so funny to see it actually written down though! I don't know if the answer is hunting instinct or making sure it won't attack....but it certainly is hilarious!

Congrats!! I know the feeling. I have a good freezer stash going myself and couldn't be happier about it. It feels so good to know you have that backup of liquid gold in the event you need it (and to send to daycare, etc).

Yay for having such a great stash in your freezer!! I have 2 ziploc bags full of Mama milk ice cubes in my freezer, but I haven't been pumping much this week.

Too funny about the babies who attack the boobs! Hunter doesn't do that, but he does get super fussy right at the beginning of the feed before he realizes my boob is already in his mouth

ETA: Almost forgot I had a question! I posted this in the 7500+ thread too. We had one weird feed last night, where Hunter kept coming off the boob and crying. Anyone else have this happen? It's not all the time, but it happens during one or 2 feeds a day. No idea why he does this, sometimes it helps to burp him or change his diaper, but not always, and I know he's getting milk because the nipple shield has milk in it. Any ideas what this could be?

DH calls her his little Bunnicula - he started calling her a vampire after she latched onto him one time .
