I so did not know that bout the tubing and letting the machine run afterwards. I have issues at times with backflow....or overflow, or something. Anyone know what causes that? LIke it is almost like the milk does not empty into the bottle soon enough, so then it gets backed up. I have to keep taking breaking the sucktion to keep it from backing up into the tubing....anyone else have these troubles or just me?
I haven't had that happen yet, but then, I'm still new to pumping. I hope you find a solution soon!

Glad he's nursing so well for you! It does seem hard to find time to pump when it's just more convenient to BF...I've really only been doing it at night when she goes down for a long stretch. It's slow, but I am building a stash, even if it's 4oz a night.
Toolgirl - Thanks for the caution. I will probably put some over at MIL's house, but more because she will watch Aly more often as she gets bigger. We have a big generator that can run most of the house, minus central air if we're really in a pinch with no power. We generally only plug in the critical stuff though, and this is definitely critical! We actually lost power a week or so ago for 3 hrs and I was concerned, but no one opened that freezer at all since it was in the middle of the night. If it had still been out by morning, I was going to make DH fire up the gen!
Yesterday Aly did not get her first bottle until 4 pm. She BF all day until then. My nips needed a break.
I do plan to have separate stashes...but...that's a really, really good idea, and exactly the sort of thing I wouldn't think of in a panic. Must remember this for the winter!
Well, that is what happened, we were in a moment of panic and did not even think. Plus, we could not get to our house (well, DH could.....but he would never have thought of something like that, cause we were grabbing the neccessities). Storm shut down our entire town and surrounding counties for like 2 weeks, it was INSANE! We were homeless cause we had no heat in our home. Not fun when you are dealing with a 5 month old, that is for sure! My mom and dad did think of it, and salvaged what they had....but that was nothing compared to my stash at home. Just did not want that to happen to someone else!! That was horrible! And that was when I was absolutely set on he was not getting formula.......now this 2nd child.....I am no longer in that frame of mind. Wiser as you get older I guess!
I have made my choice. I really enjoy BFing and going to continue with it atleast through winter/flu/sick season. Since we have started with the Gripe water Brooklynn seems to be doing better. I just wish Noah understood. It's soooo hard on him, he gets so mad at me when I go to nurse her, a lot of times when Jared is here. Sigh
