Why thank you AF is here right now, so that might be influencing things now. I have been having a weird thing where I feel REALLY full, like I am going to burst, but only pumping out .5oz. I tried a few different pumps to see if it was the pump but no luck. I wondered if my body was hanging onto the milk for her because when she nursed, she did not seem to have any problems and there was milk in the shield.

DITTO. I'm so glad you are getting to BF!

Status quo here....my supply seems down about 3-6 oz overall, but it's steady. And I have not drank enough liquids again...nor have I gotten enough sleep, which really seems to affect me. Once DS gets over his crud along with 2 year molar teething, hopefully life will get back to normal.

Ditto on the praises to Bonita, you are amazing for sticking with breastfeeding!

Julia, how was the LLL meeting?

I'm having trouble staying hydrated too Hooch, my new Klean Kanteen water bottle is helping some, but not completely up to full hydration yet. I hate plastic water bottles, they make the water taste plastic-y to me, stainless steel is awesome. Things are going well here too, donating another 60 oz of pumped milk tomorrow, then I'll stop donating for a bit and try to work on my stash. I want maybe a month's worth of milk just in case something happens or I get pregnant and need to supplement. Anyone have a good guesstimate of how much a month's worth of milk is in ounces?

Thank you. It is having interesting ups and downs. No matter what I make her go to sleep. I know she is still hungry, but she falls asleep after a few minutes and will not keep going after that, like it is such hard work she is getting tired.

Are you still having enough to donate?

Thank you to you too. How much does your baby eat at a time and how many times a day? Caitlyn eats 4oz at a time around 5 times a day so that would be 20 oz a day times roughly 30 days a month or 600 oz.

    Bonita,
Yes, still more than enough to donate. I've got some to ship out actually, but I am not sure if anyone will be there tomorrow or Monday to get it...so I'm waiting to ship until Monday. I know they'll be back on Tuesday. I've not kept track, so I don't know how many oz I've sent or how much is in this batch. If I had to guess....judging by how many of my little freezer bags fit in a gallon bag, I'd say this batch will be 150-200 oz. I can usually get 50 oz of little bags into a gallon bag, and I'd say I've got probably enough for 4 gallon bags. I'm not adding to my stash right now at all though...just trying to empty it some so I can have some freezer space back.

    Jessica,
FWIW, My son averaged 30 oz/day when he was a baby. Alyssa is around that as well. 30oz x 31 days = 930. So 1000 oz works for me. That's what I plan to maintain in my stash. I'm still above that now even with feeding her a lot from it. In another couple of weeks I'll start dividing my extra between the bank and my own stash I think.

Ok, so my supply randomly tanked today, completely out of nowhere. DS has been nursing/fussing nonstop, and refusing to wait for a letdown when he latches. Even when he stays on I'm not feeling the letdown. I have had a headache and felt tired and a bit dizzy all day. I skipped breakfast this morning and haven't had a ton to drink, about normal. I pumped tonight and got 1 oz TOTAL from both breasts, I can usually count on 4-5 in the evenings. I did pump 6.5 this morning before I noticed the fussy clingy hungry signs, so I don't think my supply is THAT low, but he has definitely noticed.

Any ideas what could be going on? Return of AF maybe? Don't even say the "p" word, I don't think it's that.

I'm X-posting this in the breastfeeding forum too.

Have you had an AF yet? I know that really affects my supply. I suppose the "p"word would too. Are you stressed out? Sometimes that makes it so you can't pump well even when you do have milk. I know not having enough milk is VERY stressful.

Jessica, is 6.5 oz normal for you to pump in the morning? On days when I accidentally pump too much in the morning, I can't keep up with DD the rest of the day and she complains to the chef.

I actually normally get 8-10 in the morning. I'm thinking it may be a combination of stress from him being sick this week, not sleeping or eating as much as I should, etc.

No AF yet, not entirely sure I expect her to show up on her own with my history of light, very sporadic periods.

LLL was good. I met a gal who was able to wean her son off the shield at 6 months so I know there is hope. I should start pumping again. I am not engorged in the morning anymore so I stopped pumping. If I do pump I can get 3-5 ounces. Just ran out of room in the stash.....
