That is no fun. I have had them before and putting cabage in your bra really does help.

We are in the midst of a nursing strike, 99% sure his first tooth will pop through any day, I can feel the ridges. He nursed at 8 am, we headed to church, kept acting hungry but wouldn't latch more than 5 seconds. Finally got home and pumped at 3:30, got 14 ounces Hunter took a bottle with 3 oz, pooped, and went to sleep, haha. Hopefully the strike will be over soon.
Caitlyn did that to me yesterday. She would not nurse at church. I am really hoping that going so long without feeding her did not hurt my supply.

I am officially no longer EBF. I just don't make enough while I am at work, so we have to supplement with formula. I bf when I am around, and my sister (our nanny) gives Nico at least one bottle of EBM each day, but my stash is completely gone now. Nico it totally NOT liking the formula, but there really is no other choice. I can't manage to make more than 6 oz at work and I only have one break time to pump (I am a teacher...so I am bound by the bell) Oh well....at least he is getting *mostly* bm throughout the day.
It really is okay to supplement. It will take so much pressure off you that you HAVE to get enough.

Thanks ladies. Supplementing is what it is. I have no choice, so I am fine with it now. The worst part about it all is the horrid smell the formula has. ICK!

I am glad the duct cleared Hooch. It sounds painful!

How is everyone doing with BFing now? I BF Caitlyn all day and then add a few bottles in the evenings because I seem to run out of milk then. I must be making more milk than I pump, because if she takes a bottle she takes 4-6 oz, but when I tried to pump first thing in the am I still only got 2oz, but she is gaining weight and happy so I can only assume that she gets more milk out than the pump.

Babies are generally much more efficient than a pump, Im so glad she's putting on more weight and you're able to breastfeed more! Wow 4-6 oz at once, Hunter rarely does more than 3, but I'm thinking he just hates bottles. Maybe I'll introduce a sippy cup soon.

Hunter is still chuggin away the breastmilk, up to 18 lbs now, he is such a chunk! He doesn't really look chubby though, his height stretches the weight out.

My little Caitlyn is getting her first teeth. This is making her mouth hurt to either nurse of take a bottle. Does anyone know how to make this better? Thanks.

Bonita, is she doing better by now? I don't really have much advice. Tylenol and Motrin were the only things that worked for us with DS. DD hasn't gotten there yet.

So I'm going through this plugged duct phase right now I guess. I just had a bunch more on the other side now. This one caused by not getting emptied all the way in the morning yesterday because we were running behind to get to DS's swim class. I cut my session short and paid dearly for it. Ouch. I finally got it out this afternoon. I really hope this trend ends quickly!

She is doing great now. Thank you for asking.

I am sorry about the plugged duct. That is no fun.

I learned something new about upping your supply if anyone is interested. There are many way to take Fenugreek. The tea is really not the best way to go. You would have to drink gallons of it a day for it to really do anything. So then I got the pills. Even after taking 9 or 10 a day it helped, but not a ton. I went to buy some more of the pills and they were out so I asked the lady that worked at Earth Fare. She said to try the Extract. It is concentrated. It tastes terrible, but works very well. After one day it just about doubled my supply. I put three dropper fulls in something to drink. (something strong as it tastes terrible). I have no idea if it is a long term fix, but worth a try.

So here is an interesting one...

You know I've had issues with plugged ducts recently right? I had no nipple soreness, but now in the past week my L side nip is just KILLING. I pumped with lanolin on it this morning, which helped some, but it still hurt. It hurt so bad I only got 5 oz out of that side after going all night without pumping. I normally get about twice that amount and I could tell there was still A LOT in there but it was not coming out. So after Matt's swim class, we stopped by BRU and I picked up the next size larger breast shield. It's working!!!! It's not totally pain free because it still hurts from earlier, but it's worlds better. I had been using the same size I used when pumping for Matt, and now all of the sudden, they are too small. Who knew the nips could change like that??? Very interesting. I also got some therashells because that L side hurts and I'm hoping the air will really help it. Hopefully this will end the plugged duct trend too.

    A new post!

I hope the new shield works.

We are still trucking along here. Nursing about half the time and formula half the time. She just has to be in a good mood to nurse or she will want a bottle.

This is what we're going through. I'm honestly so frustrated I end up in tears most of the time. She was sick for a week or so. We were all really sick actually. While she was sick, she was so stuffed up that she barely nursed. It was easier for her to take a bottle while being so congested. Now, she won't latch on. I tricked her into latching twice on Sunday with a nipple shield. I figured it would work since it's a little bit more like a bottle nipple. The last two days, I have not been able to get her to latch at all. I just battled it out for almost an hour. I don't get it! Does anybody have any ideas? Anyone have any stories of how babies have done this and then figured it out and BF just fine again. I need some sort of encouragement. I'm so close to just throwing in the towel. I don't want to give up though. I really do cherish that alone time that her and I had. I know there's no way I'd be able to pump full time for a long time. It's just too time consuming for me. I feel like I'm losing my mind. GRRRRRRR!!!!!
