    Default chapped cheeks JULY 2008

poor sydney has chapped cheeks. she slobbers constantly and wipes it all over her cheeks with her hands. i want to put something on it, but w/ all the rubbing with the hands and putting her hands in her mouth, i don't want her ingesting it...

anyone know of anything that's safe? her 4 month well child is friday, i think i'll ask her pedi.

    thanks

I would try the vaseline or chapstick (the waxy tube) and see if those help. My son always loved to suck his lower lip in and it would chap all of the time and the chapstick worked wonders on the skin and acted like a protective layer. I've used the vaseline for their cheeks when they played outside in the winter and it worked wonders. Good luck!

hey Leigh Anne...Mia has the same thing going on...is seems all our babies are drooling right now! I make sure to keep her little cheeks clean and then keep jojoba oil on it or I've also been using Weleda Calendula Oil. The others may work but I don't use petroleum based products.

me either....my mom suggested the vaseline, but i wanted to see if you girls knew of something more natural...

is the weleda calendula or jojoba oil safe if they end up getting it in their mouths?

This is why i have trouble...too much crap in lotions, etc...I just hate to put anything on her skin, kwim? I was hoping there was a more natural solution.

We are dealing with the same thing here I am glad to see all the suggestions I will have to try some of them. Now only if we could get rid of the diaper rash! Its not bad but she still has one.

I don't know anything that would help but the suggestions sound awesome.

Not to hijack the thread but... PHuff have you tried Desitin? That stuff is amazing! We use the over night creamy relief and it clears him up with a simple diaper rash after one or two uses. A bad one it takes a day or two to completely clear up but the first day it's not nearly as red or swollen.
