highchair JULY 2008

How did everyone pick their highchairs? I really need to get one but I am amazed at how much they cost. We will use some of our tax money to get it and her car seat. Going to babies r us any suggestions?

I think mostly I want one that is comfy for Sadie.

I prefer the booster chairs. They are a quarter of the cost, portable, take up less room, and can be used when the kid gets older. My older DD is 3 and she still uses hers.

I absolutely hate my highchair. I got it for DS because "everyone" was getting it. It's called the Prince Castle and was pretty expensive. I can't get it clean, and the tray doesn't come close enough to dina so she endes up wobbling all over the place. It doesn't lean back and you have to use two hands to open and close the tray. It is small so it fits into a small nook in my kitchen. I would love to get the fisher price space saver - it's a full fledged highchair but it goes on a regular chair to save space. It reclines and everything. My sister loves it, but i just can't justify the price after spending so much money on the highchair just 1 child ago.
What I would look for is easy cleaning, a tray that goes all the way in to the child, but isn't too high, and one handed control of the tray. good luck!

We got the Fisher Price Zen, can't tell you how it is, it's still in the box!! I still feed her in her Boppy chair on the kitchen table - she sometimes uses the Rainforest Booster seat at my sister's house but she doesn't sit in it for long, not sure if it's just not as comfy b/c it's plastic or if she can't see as much - my sister feeds her in her lap also which I am not coordinated enough to do.

We have the Fisher Price Space Saver and love it. We used it for my son and now for Esme. It fits on a regular chair, relatively easy to clean and not very expensive. Xavier used it until we needed it for the baby and would still be using it otherwise. When they get older just remove the cover and it is much easier to clean.

I have a Graco Contempo that I received at a baby shower for my 1st child. Now she uses a booster and Vivi uses the highchair and it's great because we can all eat around the table.

I think you have to think of what your needs are, and search for a chair from that.
If space is a problem then a booster type would be best for you....etc.

I like the Contempo because: It has adjustable height, 5-pt. harness, nicely padded, cleans easy, reclines, and folds very compactly....oh and also has wheels and wheel locks so I can move it around easily. You can also attach toys to it but I never purchased those.
It does take up a considerable amt. of space when it is set up though.

We have a 5.00 fisher price full size one. I got it used for Parker. It works fine for 5.00. I would go for the space saver.

We dont have one... I dont want one either. I think it takes up too much room. We use a baby walker as a high chair.

We just bought ours last week and love it. It's the evenflo expressions. We love the tray and the seat is adjustable. It's worked great for us so far. The only reason why I chose this one is because it was the second cheapest at Babies R Us. The cheapest looked like it was going to fall apart.

just adding my 2 cents Smile

we also have the space saver one...we had no room for a full-fledged highchair. we really like it! plus, for the price, you get a highchair AND a booster since it converts...

we have a wooden eddie bauer one. we bought it because it looks nice and it has a one hand tray removal...its comfy enough for 6mo and up--and since we don't do solids before then, it has worked for us in that dept. The only thing i don't like about it is the straps becasue they are just rediculous to get on...but since i never strap them in, its not too bad Smile I just hope I never get an excapee Smile

And the chair looks great and is on kid #3--very sturdy. although I do wish they had the darker colored one when i bought mine--mine is pine and the dark cherry would have matched my house perfectly! In fact dh has told me he wants to try to sell ours on craigslist and get the one that matches Smile

We got this one http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2908735

I like it because the height is adjustable, it's on wheels, and you can move the tray in and out with one hand (really handy when I forget to pull the tray out before grabbing LO)

The one thing I don't understand is that the cushion for the most part is covered in plastic, but the top half where his head is, is fabric. huh? But overall, I really like it.

I got a fisher price space saver...it was way cheaper and attatches to a regular chair, plus it converts to a booster. You could also take it with you to Grandma's or out.

I think I am going to pick up the Space Saver today. We got rid of our highchairs before I got pg with Noah b/c they just took up too much room in the dining room. I'm hoping Noah likes the Space Saver one when we try it out today b/c that would be so much easier.
