In unlikely event of hospital transfer- Birth Plan
Mother-to-be: XXXX Husband: XXXX Support Person(s): XXXX & XXX Practitioner(s): XXXX & XXXX
This birth plan is intended to express the preference and desires we have for the birth of our baby in the event of a hospital transfer. It is not intended to be a script. We fully realize that situations may arise such that our plan cannot and should not be followed. However, we hope that barring any extenuating circumstances, you will be able to keep us informed and aware of our options. Thank you.
First Stage (Labor):
* I request that my midwives and support person(s) accompany my husband and I in the labour and delivery rooms
* I would prefer my own clothes to hospital gown.
* Vaginal exams only if requested
* Maintain mobility (Walking, rocking, up to bathroom, etc.)
* Eat and drink to comfort.
* Please do not offer me pain medications, I will ask for them if I want them.
* Positioning as desired.
* I prefer intermittent manual fetal monitoring using a doppler or fetoscope
* I do not consent to routine augmentation of labour using any form of synthetic hormones or otherwise
* I do not consent to artificial rupture of membranes at any time
* I do not consent to a routine IV or Hep-lock, unless deemed medically necessary for a healthy outcome
Second Stage (Birth):
* Choice of position
* Self-directed pushing; please no coaching at any time
* Prolonged length, if progress is being made
* I do not consent to an episiotomy, and would prefer to tear. Please use compresses, massage and positioning.
* Do not announce the sex of our baby. It is very important to myself and my husband that we are the ones to announce this.
Mother Care and Baby Care:
* Our baby is to immediately be placed on my skin. Please do not swaddle or wipe down our baby.
* I do not consent to the routine use of Pitocin, cord traction or abdominal massage
* Cord cut after pulsating has stopped, with my husband prefferably cutting
* We do not consent to prophylactic eye ointment, we will sign a waiver indicating we have declined this procedure
* Breast feeding only
* No pacifiers or glucose water
* No separation of Mother & Baby. Apgars can be done while my baby is with me.
* Other newborn procedures can be delayed until breastfeeding has been established
* I do not consent to having my baby bathed by anyone other than my husband and/or myself
* If our baby needs to be sent to the NICU, Greg will accompany him/her at all times, or someone else we assign.
* Do not circumcise our son and do not retract the foreskin of our son
In the event of a Cesarean Birth:
* My husband present at all times
* Hands free, and not strapped down
* Please use double layer suturing for the incision closure (NOT staples)
* Breast feeding in recovery room as soon as possible
* Do not announce the sex of our baby. It is very important to myself and my husband that we are the ones to announce this
* We do not consent to prophylactic eye ointment, we will sign a waiver indicating we have declined this procedure
* If our baby needs to be sent to the NICU, Greg will accompany him/her at all times, or someone else we assign.
In unlikely event of hospital transfer bag:
Mine:

*manual breast pump
My Hypnobabies Special Place
A short description of my 'Special Place' (in Hypnobabies you're asked to imagine a place where you can go with your baby and whomever else makes you feel safe. It's a great exercise and my favourite script, by far!). I found a picture of it. Inverness, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. The sand and grass dunes by the warm side of the ocean. There's a little house in the background where my 'tribe' waits (my birth team: DH, midwives, sisters, bff's and mom). Violet plays on the sand while I sit on a blanket in the grass with the baby. Same special place as my last birth.

Claiming my space :).
I've been with my fiance for 2 and a half years. We are planning a wedding over christmas (with a bump will be so cute) and I got my BFP on Aug 29th. This would have been my angel baby's due date and to me it seemed like the perfect gift from her.

BABY #1 It's a GIRL! EDD 5/19/10
BFP ($ Tree) 11DPO on 9/07/09
BFP (FRER) 13DPO 9/09/00
http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/a...testBFP1-1.jpg
19DPO
http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/a...gtest19DPO.jpg
Symptoms WKS 1-4:
The first few days I felt strange in my lower abdomen not quite gas or bowel issues, just twinges and stuff. When I slept on my side my sides and lower abdomen felt a tiny bit overstretched or sore-ish? Also at about 4 or 5DPO I had loose stool for a good 3 days.
I really didn't start feeling like I was pregnant until after I tested positive at 11DPO. Like as if all of a sudden there was no question. The sides of my boobs were tender and felt heavy. I've been feeling light cramping off and on everyday. I'm breaking out and moodiness has set in. I start to feel a headache coming on during the day if I don't eat every 5 hours or so.
I've had no MS as of yet, no sore nipples, no cravings, etc.
Symptoms WKS 5-6
Week 5 let's see....I'm easily frustrated at work, having a hard time concentrating/absentmindedness, moody. I'm beginning to get tired more often. At 5w3d - 6w2d I've been pretty sick with a head cold. My boobs are still tender.
Got my pregnancy confirmed today at Atlanticare Health Plex via a urine test. They based my EDD on my LMP August 12th, which would change my EDD to May 19, 2010. I know that I O'd on August 27th so in my mind it should still remain at May 21st.
Symptoms WKS 7-9
Morning sickness arrived wk 9.
No updating.............
Heart rates 156, 147, 139
Wk 21 on 01/06/10 at 1pm we found out were having a GIRL! Baby measuring at 15 oz., all measurements are good. Another ultrasound scheduled for March 3rd because we couldn't get a good picture of her spine since she wouldn't budge from lying on her back. Atleast, we get to see her again.
**Just didn't keep up with all of this updating..BOO
Thurs., May 13th, 2010 @ 11:01 via scheduled c-section, we had Rachel who weighed 8 lbs. 15 oz. and was 22 inches long. She was discharged on Sunday, May 16th at noon weighing 8 lbs. 9 oz. She was breastfed for 3 days and then I switched her to formula.

Drake's May Space
I am Drake (28) married to DH Finn(29) since 2003. We are both graduate students. I am getting my masters in scientific illustration and DH is getting his PhD in wildlife ecology. We both are planning on finishing in May right around when this one is due, should be interesting. We have one son Hawkes who will be three on November 17th. This baby was a total shock to us since we definately were not trying since this year not only are we finishing our degrees but we will also be putting our house on the market and moving, maybe out of the country. So this is going to be a crazy year. Sorry no pictures of my tests, I was just shocked. And belly pics will wait till later. but here are my boys.
