That's an interesting point, Joee. I think it is possible, and I would venture to guess that *I* am one of those 25%. And I wonder if the same thing happens with some of the pink dye tests?


As for the person above who was wondering if they use the same strip for OPKs and they do for HPTs, that's a good question, but I sure hope they don't, because if that is the case then getting a BFN on those tests would be pretty rare for most women being that we always have LH in our system.

I've just spent my entire day crying my eyes out because I had a really bright positive on a blue test. :eek: (My kids are 15 and 16 and I am way too old to do the baby thing.)

I sincerely hope that was a false positive! Thank you for posting this. Once I get up the courage, I'm going to go buy a pink test.

I agree. The problem with the blue dye tests seems to be when there are very faint or 'questionable' lines (such as a very thin line, or a partial line). If it is a thick, bright blue line then most likely it is indeed positive. KUP on the results of the pink dye test! And breathe. It will be okay. Your older kids will be a great help to you, I'm sure. Teens can stay up all night with no problem, so in that respect, you're good :)

It's the same as with any pos/neg test (i.e. drug tests), if the line is bright it's usually positive, if it's very faint then you need further testing. Now if the false positives are coming from test sticks with bright lines then they need to be investigated to see what is causing this problem. Would also be interesting to see reliability stats on the different brands available to see if there really is a difference.

My false positive ~ Fact Plus brand: (Note: The line was THICK at first, but dried thin. I re-tested with an Answer brand that same afternoon and it was BFN. The next morning, I tested again with another Answer brand, and again it was BFN, then later that morning I started spotting. The day after that, AF started full force.)

Hi,

I'm new to this site and board but wanted to comment on the blue dye test. I took a blue dye test early this morning and after 2-3 minutes, no control or test line appeared so I figured it was invalid. When I returned to the bathroom about 20 minutes later, I found not only had a dark blue control line appeared, but a dark blue test line had appeared as well. I was using a test purchased from CVS. I'm not counting this as a positive test, though it is convincing, because I think it is just an evap line. Instead I am planning to purchase another brand and test again.

I doubt that's an evap. Any update?

I was also wondering if there was an update. Hope it was good news! I also doubt that was an evap/false +, it sure does look like a good + even for a blue dye test.
