I have never taken a blue dye test.
I've used EPT, Walmart, and dollar store tests numerous times and never had a false positive. I can imgine what an emotional rollercoaster that would be.

I took all 3 generic tests. 1. last night there was a very hard to see faint line indicating a positive. 2. 6am this morning a more defined line but still hard to see. 3. 10am today and it said it was neg. after reading all these blogs I wonder if mine are false positives or negatives.... but i'm planning on buying a brand name one and retesting.
My gooodness! I am greatful to know blue dye tests are so aweful!!! I am most definatly pregnant, but I also got very lucky that the dollar store tests were pink/red dyes!!!!!!!! my doc confirmed before I told anyone!!! But I am deffinatly going to warn against blue tests to anyone and everyone I know!!
hi ladies I dont want to put a damper on this topic....BUT....I too POAS last oct and got two blue lines...I was infact pregnant....But M/C....When did I M/C????? right when my period was due...So I got a + then cramping and period a day later...How do I know I was preg?? I had bloods done so doc could check...If you look at alot of peoples siggys you will see alot of M/C at around the 6wk mark...
I had a huge take with my doc about this and he informed me that most unknown cause M/C happen when you would normally get your period, your body just continues with its cycle and if the LO isnt strong (for lack of the right word) enough M/C can be the result...
They say that alot of woman M/C at some time or another, but dont know it because they werent trying or didnt test...And just thought it was a slightly heavier period...
This truely is the down fall of finding out sooooo early on in our pregnancies...As my mother said to me...In her day, they never found out until they were way past their period being late, like skipped 2 periods....
Im not saying that there are false positives out there, BUT there is a huge chance that this may be the reason for some of them...
So that brings us to some questions then:
IF in fact these "false positives" are early (or chemical) pregnancies....
*how is that the blue dye (who claims to have the same sensitivity as other pink dye HPT's) are managing to pick up these tiny amounts of HCG?
*how could this problem be widespread through several diffrent brands?
VERY good point. Thank you.
Something for all of us to think about, and another NOTCH on the DO NOT TEST EARLY belt!
I've had several chemical pregnancies over my 2+ years of combined TTC...and the only 'false' positives I've gotten are from blue dye tests. I know this because I'd get that ugly second blue line, and test with the same exact FMU with a pink dye test...and the pink dye test would be white as snow. I have gotten several faint lines on pink dye tests and had AF show as normal or a day late.....that was a chemical pregnancy. But to have one test show a line, and the other not with the same urine...I'm not convinced. Especially when it's happened more than once.
