I know this thread is old but I believe I had a False Positive just last night and after looking for information on the internet, I found this thread.

So here is a little background info....My AF is late by 2 weeks and 5 days. I have taken many hpt's, all negative (both blue and pink dye kind). 2 days after my period was late, I took matters into my own hands and went to the doctor to get a blood test...negative. That was 2 weeks ago, and still no period. While my period is not the most regular, I have never been THIS late and I've never skipped a period.

Last night I took a pregnancy test (Walgreen's generic) because I've heard that some females are slow to develop enough Hcg and thought I'd just try it. I took it, but someone hurried me out of the restroom so after looking at it initially and seeing no sign of a line I just left it there. Hours later I came back and saw a faint line, but definitely a line. My boyfriend was soooo excited and nerve wrecked that he went to the store and bought a ClearBlue digital test, it came back negative. This morning I took a FRE (pink dye) and that came out negative as well. I'm pretty convinced it was a false positive (though I still don't have my AF) but I just wanted to share my story.

daniela29 - I'm so sorry that it looks like you experienced a false positive, though it does make me wonder why you don't have AF yet. Keep us posted on your situation. I am curious to know how it will turn out.

I'll keep you posted! My boyfriend is having a harder time than I with this waiting game, I don't think either of one us will be convinced that I'm NOT pregnant until my period shows up. At the same time, thinking this way is kind of giving ourselves false hope.

    Update*!

It seemed like mother nature really wanted to play a prank on me this past month and I skipped a period altogether! But got it today, finally.....the exact day I was supposed to get it if I would have gotten it last month at the right time as well.

A skipped period, plus a false positive, plus some wacky things my body was doing doesn't equal out to a good time BUT I'm just glad AF showed up so that we can continue to try

    Ladies....weiiiiirddd things happen!!

    Default One more victim

Me too was a victim of these horrible tests. I must admit, that I have not really believed in false positive tests, neither this happened to me before. So I had no idea and bought a Target brand, tested faint (but clearly) positive right away. Providing that was the 1st positive I have seen in a long, long time, got so excited. Repeated next morning - the same kind of a faint positive that did not get darker and that fact alerted me (true positives tend to get darker in early pregnancy every day). Retested with a dollar tree and First response and needdless to say, both were clear negative. Got my period in a few days.
That was horrible experience. The blue-dyed tests must be taken off the market ASAP.

So its been awhile since anyposted. But this was a very good thread ladies. Lots of questions, and confusion. Well I found out I am about 5 weeks pregnant. When period didnt show on the 20th of october, I took a blue dye walgreens brand early. The first test did it that afternoon and got a line, but it wasnt a thick line, so I figured it was an evaporation line. The second test I did was fmu and that was negative, nothing what so ever showed up. So then I tried a dollar general test, same thing one said yes, the other said no. But those were pink dye I believe. So being frustrated and already 7 days passed af, I tried another test from 99cent store (pink) and that line was very very faint but it was a thick line. Did a digital walgreen brand a day later and got a "pregnant" result, did a urine test at doctors 2 days later and they got a very faint line but in deed it was a positive. And since I had that other test in the box (digital one) I was like what the heck, took it last night... Pregnant showed up so I guess I really am! period was due on the 20th and here we are nov. 2

I had bloods done so doc could check...If you look at alot of peoples siggys you will see alot of M/C at around the 6wk mark...

I had a huge take with my doc about this and he informed me that most unknown cause M/C happen when you would normally get your period, your body just continues with its cycle and if the LO isnt strong (for lack of the right word) enough M/C can be the result...
They say that alot of woman M/C at some time or another, but dont know it because they werent trying or didnt test...And just thought it was a slightly heavier period...
This truely is the down fall of finding out sooooo early on in our pregnancies...As my mother said to me...In her day, they never found out until they were way past their period being late, like skipped 2 periods....

Im not saying that there are false positives out there, BUT there is a huge chance that this may be the reason for some of them...
I wanted to bring this back up. I must have missed it the first time around.

I got my 5 big faint positives on the blue dye tests back around the beginning of July 2009 and I didn't get AF until late Sept 2009. I was breast feeding DS full time during the bfp spree. Blood test was negative... def NOT a chem or early m/c.

Just so we are clear on MY experiences.

well thanks and i will never use a blue dye test again... i agree they are evil! in fact i think i might use digital from now on just so i cant stare at the test intently scrunching my eyes and going aha! i see a line.. id rather just see pregnant or not pregnant even though seeing a big fat No! is not the most fun.
