I'm planning to do this with my placenta this time around. DH has told me I can do what I like, just not to tell him about it. He finds the idea gross. DS2's placenta is still in our freezer because I haven't decided what to do with it (we rent so I don't want to plant it here) and can't bring myself to toss it. DH said I was only allowed to have one placenta in the freezer at a time, so I figured I'd just encapsulate this one instead. I wish I'd done it last time, too.

I have a friend who blended hers raw in her smoothies, which I know would be even more nutritional, but I just don't think I could stomach it, unfortunately.

I don't mind if others do it...but for me...if it was meant to stay in me...it would.
I take prenatals after delivery and during nursing...so that is enough for me.

As for the question dealing w/ DH... He isn't taking them...if you want to do it...go for it. You baked that baby 9 months:0)

So I talked to DH more about this last night and presented my reasoning for wanting to do it (not going back on my meds while I'm nursing), and he told me that if I thought it would help, he's with me 100%. YAY! So I've contacted a few doulas who do this, and am waiting to hear back from them before I decide on who to go with. Thanks for bringing this up, Christine, or I'm not sure I would have followed through with it, or had the guts to talk to DH!

Woah! I"m stoked! Here I was ready to shell out the money to have someone encapsulate my placenta, when my sister offered to learn how to do it and she's gonna do it for me!!

That's fantastic Alison! I could do it for someone else too, I just don't think I'm going to want to do it after giving birth I don't think it's gross though. There's not a whole lot that can turn my stomach LOL

and Al's sister is my BFF so she's doing mine too WOOT!!!

She's awesome, very little makes that woman queasy..well except a big juicy spider I think if it works out for her and us, she should start a little side business, she'd make a killing as there's very little in our area for something like that.
