Thread: Sickie Remedies..Updated at top JULY 2008

Since lots of kiddos seem to be sick around here, can we start a thread with some helpful remedies for colds, teething, pukies, etc?

I will add everyones resonses at the top here for quick reference

Colds
Warm mist humidifier(trying4#2inMD)
Baby vicks (LOVE THIS STUFF)(trying4#2inMD)
Crib elevation(trying4#2inMD)
Warm bath with water over head (lol, check out the sleeping stickie to see why I did this!)(trying4#2inMD)
Saline Spray(CeeTee)
Sit in bathroom with LO while running super hot steamy shower (DO NOT PUT BABY IN SHOWER)(girlisrad)
For Congestion: Rub vicks OR Peppermint Oil on the bottom of the feet (it works I swear!)(girlisrad)
Baby Nose Vac- I SWEAR by this product, I have used it with both kids and I find it PRICELESS! (trying4#2inMD)
Older kids congestion: avoid milk products, they'll cause more congestion (obviously babies can't avoid milk )(~HollyBear~)
Put a few drops of pure eucaliptus oil in a warm mist humidifier's medicine cup--makes the room smell great!(~HollyBear~)
Johnsons baby bath with the eucalyptus in it (can't remember the name)(~HollyBear~)

Teething

Mesh feeder with ice cube(trying4#2inMD)
Raz Berry Teething Pacifier(trying4#2inMD)
Teething tablets(trying4#2inMD)
Motrin when it gets really really bad(trying4#2inMD)

Pukies
For my older daughter, I could not get her to drink pedialyte so we used the Gatorade Rain in grape flavor. She would not take the regular Gatorade, only the rain.(trying4#2inMD)

Runnies
There was a good diaper rash remedy on the April 08 board, something with malox or something like that (I need to look this up)(trying4#2inMD)
Probiotics, we use Culturelle(trying4#2inMD)

The only thing I have to add to that is Saline Spray for congestion. It's the only way I can get Dina to eat.

Wouldn't it be a cute idea to use this list to buy products/make up a book to give to an expecting mom for a shower gift? Like an "Emergency teething Basket" or "Emergency Cold basket". My SIL is due in April and i am SO doing this!

Lol.. I didn't say we couldn't use drugs This is not a "natural" remedies thread! It just so happens that most things involving babies and OTC meds don't really work!

What about fevers? That's what we have right now. This should be a sticky...
