Happy Happy Happy to be pregnant with #3! Thinking it's a boy this time since my pregnancy dreams have been right so far. haha I'll be wrong now.

    Due Date: February 7th, 2011

    Appointments:
6-10 Went great, midwife measured tummy at 10 weeks! Umm...I don't think it's twins!? U/S scheduled for 6/17

6-17 U/S showed ONE baby with a great HB and measured my due date to be 2/7 Scheduled 2nd u/s because dr wants to check for twins and double check date (no period since 2008 )

7-1 Baby growing right on schedule with perfect HB. No twins, due date stays the same. Great to see the LO again!

7-13 Regular check up Baby has HB of 165 with doppler, everything going great! BP doing good - had preE with DD#1 so always anxious about that.

8-10 Regular check up Baby has HB of 158 with doppler, doing great, no more naseau and BP still good! OB too busy so met with NP. She said their policy is no weight gain since I am over 200 lbs but I told her where she could put that remark since my BMI is 26 because I'm so dang tall. Downside: even though I want to gain to prove them wrong, I'm still the exact same as when I found out I was preg. Ironic, isn't it. Starting on occasional maternity clothes just cause they're so comfy!

    Next App: 9-7
Big U/S App: 9-23 Why so late?!

    Tummy Pics: I'll add soon!

    Weight Gain:
    As of 8-31: 0 ???

    Melissa's Spot!

This is my second pregnancy, I had a handsome baby boy in September 2008. We weren't trying for this baby, and we are so thrilled to be surprised. I am hoping for an easy, low maintenance pregnancy and looking forward to a home birth if everything goes well.

    BFP!

    About Us
My name is Sarah. Dave and I were married in 2000. I was diagnosed with cancer in 2001 and we went through two years of fighting harder than we ever thought we could. In 2003 I was declared in remission! Dr gave the ok to TTC #1 in 2004. I joined the TTC #1 board on pg.org that June and got my BFP in November of that same year. Some of us started the TTC #1 Grad Board and I co-moderated it for about 2 years. A few months after DS was born, my brother was killed in Iraq. We moved to another state to help raise my niece and nephew for a few years and finally got back on our own for a little over a year. Decided we'd better start TTC again if we wanted to have another kid! It took us about 3 months to get this BFP. We are so excited and would love to have a little girl this time since we are done after this one. But two boys would be so much fun too!

    Sharing the News
5 days before AF was due I just felt the urge to test. I had a test under my sink and I woke up really early and could not go back to sleep. I finally did go back to sleep and decided to not test that day, I would wait a few more days. When I woke up I was thinking about that test again. I finally said to myself I could just take the test, get the BFN, and then just buy another test in a couple of days. When it popped up "Pregnant" I was in shock! I knew I could be pg but I never expected it to show up so early! I left the test on the counter to get DH. I told him to go in the bathroom because he needed to see something. He had no idea what I was talking about because he knew it was too soon to test. He walked in there and just started laughing! He was so happy and shocked! First thing he wanted to do was tell DS
We called our parents first and then siblings. We told a couple of really close friends that day. Mostly we waited until after our first appt to tell anyone else. Some people closer to me guessed because I was so sick - it was hard to hide from people who really knew me - and I didn't want to lie! After our first appt and u/s at 8 weeks, we posted it on facebook.

    Finding out the sex
We made an appt at a 3D u/s place about a month in advance. At 18 weeks I went in with DH, DS, my mom, my sister, her husband, my MIL, and my SIL! The place was really nice and it was a huge room where everyone could see on the really big screen. She started showing us the baby's face and how she was moving around but DS was getting impatient right away - he said "is it a girl??". The u/s tech laughed and said, "ok someone's getting impatient - we'll cut right to the chase!". She was really quiet and was moving the wand all around and being really careful. I couldn't tell what she was seeing honestly! Finally she said, "ok, are you ready to know?" She froze the screen and put in an arrow and started typing GIRL! The whole room erupted with screams! Everyone in both of our families wanted us to have a girl. While everyone's screaming, I just looked at her calmly and said "seriously?". I just couldn't believe it! I was so sure that she was going to say it was a boy. I wanted a girl so badly that I wouldn't let myself believe that it could actually happen! The u/s lasted a full half hour and I had her check that baby from every single angle before we left. She finally said, "I'm positive it is a girl - I'm not wrong - it is definitely a girl!" So I was satisfied and completely over the moon to know that I'm having the baby girl I always wanted. As soon as we got back in the car, DS says to me, "You were wrong mommy - I told you it was a girl" He was right! LOL! xoxo

     Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
This is my first pregnancy at 33 (now 34!). Since last October I've had a sharp pain in my lower left side that comes and goes. My doctor suggested in January that I might have endometriosis (after a ton of tests -- pelvic ultrasound, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and CT scan -- all inconclusive). I had always been on the fence about kids, but the thought that maybe the choice would be taken away from me REALLY made me think about whether or not I wanted to have kids. And how I better get crackin' if I wanted to have them. So, here I am. I went off birth control April 1 and you can imagine my utter and complete surprise when my pregnancy test was positive our second month of trying. I had dug in for a long, long try at this pregnancy thing. I'm incredibly thankful and happy that I'm carrying this little one.

    The Happy Couple!

    Michelle & Patrick

    Important Dates!

    Ovulated: May 22
    Conception: May 23
Positive test: June 5th, 8:00 am

    Appointments!

First appointment, 8 weeks: July 2, 7:20 am. -- It was incredible! We saw the heartbeat on the ultrasound. It was 160 bpm. Our nurse is predicting a girl at this point.

2nd appointment, 12 weeks: July 30, 8:30 am. -- A pretty routine appointment. I've gained a pound since the last visit a month ago. Blood pressure was 98/60. We were able to hear the baby's heartbeat with a doppler. Heartbeat was in the low 160's. Yeah!

3rd appointment, 13 weeks: August 6, 7:45 am -- NT Scan and bloodtest. The Ultrasound was incredible. Heartbeat was 136. I saw it waving its little hands and touching its face. Moving its little lips. I'm convinced it's a boy. Absolutely. I felt this incredible surge of love looking at this little wonder on the screen.

4th appointment, 16 weeks: August 25, 7:10 am -- Routine OB appointment. I've gained 3 lbs since my last appointment 4 weeks ago. Listened for the baby's heartbeat with the doppler. It was 130 bpm.

5th apointment, 18 weeks, 4 days: September 16, 10:45 am -- 19-week ultrasound! It's a sweet little boy! His heartbeat was 135 bpm and he weighs 10 ozs. He's measuring 19w1d, though I was only 18w4d at the ultrasound.

6th appointment, 19 weeks, 1 day: September 22, 8:00 am -- Some bad news from the ultrasound -- a 2-vessel umbilical cord and Choroid Plexus Cycsts in the brain. Could mean nothing. Could mean a chromosonal abnormality. I go back for a Level II Ultrasound to confirm on Friday. Since all my genetic screens came back negative, I'm more worried about the 2-vessel umbilical and restricted growth at this point. We'll need to keep a close watch on the little guy. Otherwise, we are looking good. My BP was 110/62. I've gained 10 lbs so far, and I'm measuring at 19.5 weeks. Right on schedule. Baby's heartbeat was 136 bpm.

7th appointment, 20 weeks: September 24, 7:45 am -- Level II Ultrasound to look for more abnormalities. Our baby was given a clean bill of health! No other abnormalities were found. All major organs, hands, feet, etc., look perfect. He's measuring right at 20 weeks and weighs 12 ozs. His heartbeat was 145 bpm (mostly from that orange juice I drank). We are so happy and relieved he's doing well! We'll just monitor his growth from here on out to make sure he stays on track.

8th appointment, 23 weeks: October 19, 8:00 am -- Routine OB apointment at 23 weeks. BP was 112/65. Baby's heartrate was in the 140's. I'm measuring at just over 23 weeks (on schedule!). I've only gained a pound since my last visit, but my doctor didn't seem concerned. I was a bit ahead of schedule on my gaining anyway. I received my flu shot, too. Everything looked good! I was told at 32weeks they will begin doing Biophysical Profiles for me every week -- which will entail an ultrasound and Non-stress Test. As long as he passes, then we're good. If he doesn't pass they will induce me early. I have my fingers crossed he passes!

9th appointment, 28 weeks: November 24, 7:00 am -- BP was good at 118/70. Weight is up 3 lbs. from last appointment. LO's heartbeat was 136 bpm. He's laying head down right now with this spine curved to my right side. I can feel his little butt near my belly button and his feet kicking my ribs! I did my GD test and had my Rhogam shot (in the butt!). I passed by GD test and my glucose level was 101. Whewww! I feel like I'm in the home stretch now!!!

10th appointment, 32 weeks: December 22, 7:15 am -- OB appointment, Biophysical Profile and NST. Baby Boy passed the BPP and NST! 10 out of 10. He passed the BPP within a minute or two. Took lots of breaths and moved around. The NST was harder, but he passed that, too. So, he gets to stay in there for another week. I'm measuring right at 32 weeks. BP was 110/68. My weight was up 2 lbs from my last appointment. Overall gain of 17 lbs so far. Everything is looking good.

11th appointment, 33 weeks: December 29, 8:30 am -- Biophysical Profile and NST. He passed!! 10 out of 10 (really 8 out of 8 because the NST machine wasn't working correctly -- but I know he passed that one, too. He moved around a lot and we saw his heartbeat go up). He passed his BPP very quickly again -- the fastest the tech had seen in a long time. He took lots of breaths and he was chewing on his hand. He's still head down, and the tech confirmed he's definitely a boy. We got an awesome face shot of him, too. And he has hair!!!

12th appointment, 34 weeks: January 4, 2:15 pm -- OB appointment, Biophysical Profile and NST. Baby boy passed again with a 10 out 10! He was very active today. He passed his BPP within 6 minutes. The Tech took some nice pics for us. His heartbeat was around 148. He took lots of good practice breaths, too. He's still head down and facing my back. The tech confirmed it was a boy for us again -- and sure enough, he was playing with this little ding-a-ling. Ha! NST also went well. He actually kicked off the heart monitor! My OB appointment was pretty uneventful. I'm measuring right at 34 weeks. My BP was 92/60, and I've gained 1 lb. since my 32-week appointment.

13th appointment, 35 weeks: January 11, 8:30 am -- Biophysical Profile and NST. Baby boy passed again with a 10 out of 10!! He looked great on the ultrasound. He was moving around a lot and practicing his breathing. He's currently still head down and facing my back (vertex). His heartbeat during the ultrasound was 121. My fluid levels look good. The tech also confirmed that the cysts in his brain have resolved themselves. He also passed the NST. Heartrate was in the 140's. I think I had about 4 contractions during the test, also. The monitor went as high as 50. He also had the hiccups for a while. So, we're good for another week!

14th appointment, 36 weeks: January 17, 9:50 am -- OB appointment, BPP, NST and 36-week growth ultrasound. OB appointment was good. BP was 98/68. Baby's heartrate was in the 140's. I'm measuring at 36 weeks and I'm up 1 pound from my last appointment two weeks ago. I had the GBS test done and my doctor checked me. I'm 50% effaced but completely closed. Baby has dropped into my pelvis and she could feel his head right there. So, a good appointment. Things got rough during my NST, though. I was on my back too long during the OB appointment, and during the NST I started to feel nauseated and faint. My ears were ringing and they had to give me the garbage can in case I threw up. I didn't throw up, but they had to put cold compresses on my forehead and try to get some blood back up to my brain so I didn't pass out. During all this I was having contractions that registered over 100 on the monitor and the baby was going nuts in there. But he did pass the NST. Then they sent me for my BPP and growth ultrasound. He passed the BPP (yeah!). For the growth ultrasound he's 5 lbs on the nose. So, just a little peanut. But she said he's growing proportionally and that's what they want to see. So, he's measuring more like 34 weeks and not 36 weeks right now. I'm a little concerned he's so small, but my DH was only 5 lbs, 12 ozs. at birth. So, I'm hoping he stays in there at least until February because I want him to be at least 6 lbs at birth.

15th appointment, 37 weeks: January 24, 7:15 am -- OB appointment, Biophysical Profile and NST. LO passed his BPP and NST with a 10 out of 10 again this week. No drama this week, thank goodness. My BP was 106/64. Weight is up one pound from last week. I'm still 50% effaced and my cervix is not completely closed anymore. It's just "dimpled" but not quite dilated to 1 cm yet. So, slow progress. He's not in any hurry to get out of there. He's laying with his head very low in my pelvis to my right side, with his body curved up my left side and his feet kicking my right. Very, very comfy, in there. My GBS swab was negative, too.

16th appointment, 38 weeks: January 31, 7:15 am -- OB appointment, Biophysical Profile and NST. Baby passed BPP and NST with a 10 out of 10 again, though he was quieter this time around during his NST. My BP was 109/70, heartrate of 54. Apparently I was almost asleep. I'm up 1/2 a lb. from last week. I'm measuring at 37 1/2 weeks. Found out baby only measured 4 lbs, 9 ozs. at the growth ultrasound. They told us 5 lbs, but it only came to 4 lbs., 9 ozs. once all measurements were in. The doctor is concerned because that puts in him less than the 10th percentile for growth. I have to have another growth ultrasound next week to see if he's gained any weight. No progress on dilation or effacement. Overall, kind of a depressing appointment.

17th appointment, 39 weeks: February 7, 7:15 am -- OB appointment, Growth Ultrasound, Biophysical Profile and NST. I'm still only a fingertip dilated and 50% effaced. No progress for the last two weeks. My doc did say that he's much lower now, though, and his head should really start to put pressure on my cervix to get that thing to dilate/efface! My BP was 102/70 and I've gained another 1/2 a pound since last week. Baby passed his BPP and NST again, but he was much less active. His heartrate during the BPP was 116 and it dropped to 114 to 112 during the NST. The alarms on the NST machine kept going off because his baseline heartrate is usually at least 120. So, needless to say, this stressed me out. My doctor didn't seem concerned, but it bothered me.
I also had my growth ultrasound. At 36 weeks he measured at 5 lbs., and later when all the measurements came in, they said he was 4 lbs., 9 ozs. Today he measured 6 lbs., 1 oz. during the ultrasound, but we won't know his final measurement until the doctor calls us. He's measuring about 2-3 weeks behind, but at least he's showing progress. During the ultrasound they checked the blood flow in his umbilical cord, and it looked good, but it's also either around his neck, or sitting just in front of his neck. The tech couldn't tell. I was born with the cord around my neck, and I wasn't breathing at birth. Same with my uncle, and two of my aunts lost babies late in their pregnancies because of cord accidents. Soooo...combine that with his reduced movements and reduced heartrate, and I really start to worry. I'm trying not to, mostly because my doctor seems unconcerned, but it's hard. I'm not going to feel at ease until he's out in the world and I can SEE he's okay. Anyway, my next appointment is Feb. 15th at just over 40 weeks. If I don't go into labor by then, they are going to schedule my induction. Thank goodness there's an end in sight.
