Wyatt has his first cold. It is now 2:55 am and I have been up most of the night because he cannot sleep due to a stuffy nose. I have set up a cool mist humidifier and I have been doing saline drops and the snot sucker and it works some. I have tried sitting him in his swing to sleep because it is semi upright, I have tried sitting him on me in every possible position, but the poor little guy just can't get good sleep.
He is not running a fever, so I don't think this is something that the ped can give meds for.
Any help you ladies can give would be much appreciated.
thanks,
Mary
you're doing everything we did, though we used a warm air humidifier...
it helps if you wait about 15 minutes after the saline spray to use the snot sucker...

I have no more suggestions. I hope he starts feeling better soon!
Poor thing!
You are doing everything right for sure...
You might want to run a super hot shower and sit in the bathroom with him.(NOT IN THE HOT SHOWER< LOL)
The steam will help break up the mucus and allow him to breath a little better... plus the warm will help him feel sleepy... and Mom could always use a little sauna time!
GL!
Thanks ladies! We finally got back to sleep around 5:30 and made it til 8:45. I'm happy with that becuase he is happy and playing now. I can tell that he still don't feel good...breaks my heart....but at least he has gotten some rest.
I read on another thread something about putting vicks baby rub on the LO's feet to help with congestion. Has anyone heard of this?
vicks on the bottom of the feet, huh? i don't know why that'd help. maybe it has something to do with pressure points there. there are pressure points on the bottom of baby's feet (everybody's feet) that help with congestion. rub his little feet, paying special attention to the pads up next to his toes. rub in tiny circles with your thumb. rub hard enough so that it doesn't tickle but be careful not to hurt him. these points can be very tender. do both feet.
also, the armpits have pressure points that correspond to the lungs. if he has lung congestion, you can massage his armpits.
i'm glad you both got some rest.
