So excited to start this challenge with you girls! I just earned my first point by having my first breakfast in months! Woo!
Also I walked a mile so far taking the kids to school, and know I have to do that again later, plus a day full of housework and chores. And although it's not counted in today's points, I even slept great last night. I normally suffer from insomnia, and rarely sleep more than 4 hours a night... But last night I resolved that I have to be healthier, so I went to bed earlier than normal, watched a program on TV, then turned my back to my problems and fell asleep just before midnight, and didn't wake up until my alarm went off at 7am!!! I know that doesn't seem like much, but I can really not remember the last time that happened for me!
How is everyone else doing on their first day?

Wow Sarah-Jean, I was shocked to see how much you get done so early in the morning, then I realized you were in England!! :O)
An impressive start either way! How far are you from London. I think that's the only place I've been in England, but I've been there a few times. I aslo went to Scotland for a few days and loved it there. My family is from Ireland so I travel to there/Europe often (or at least, I USED to). My dad is planning a trip to Wales in the june/july for a friend's 100th birthday. Would love to go there, but I don't think it's in the cards for me.
AFM- this morning started out OK. My scale says I lost over a pound from last week (thank you Invisalign!), but then the batteries went dead so I'm not sure if I trust it. I'm going with it either way )
I'm having my usual breakfast this morning. Toast with Hummus. I found a great somewhat local organic bread called Bread Alone. Only a few ingredients rather than the 40+ in conventional bread (even the "healthy" ones). I got a bread machine for Christmas so I plan on making a lot more homemade stuff to cut the cost the expensive organic types.
Yesterday I had a kid's birthday party and while the food was VERY good and all homemade, there really wasn't any vegetables. Green Beans with garlic and eggplant rollatini (which I don't think really counts as a vegetable). Next time my SIL has a party I think I may offer to bring a veggie dish (maybe just a roasted veggie tray). Do you think it's a slap in the face????
And for dessert....THREE cookies and a small brownie :O(

Hi Sarah-Jean (or do you go by just Sarah?) I'm so excited about starting this challenge too! So far though, I'm still laying in bed. Lol! My little guy is sick with a flu and had a rough night so I want to make sure he gets his sleep. What was your breakfast this morning?
Deirdre, OMG I love my breadmaker!! I got mine, maybe 2 years ago? I use it at least once a week. I'm kinda a pro when it comes to pizza dough. maybe I'll send you my recipe.
I once tried cooking with eggplant. Ummm BARF! I must not know what I'm doing in that department. Lol!
So ladies, will you be doing any type of exercise routines to help out? When do you fit exercise into your busy day?

Hello Deirdre, I don't think offering to bring food to a party is ever a slap in the face... It should be seen as a gift I'd have thought, to help the hostess. The bread thing sounds fab - I love my breadmaker, but sadly I think it's dying so I haven't really done anything with it for awhile. Really hoping DH takes the hint and buys me a new one! LOL
London is about 50 miles from us, so about an hours drive or about half an hour on the train. I like London but I can only stomach it in small batches as I tend to find it a bit dirty there. I love the history though and the theatres - DH is taking me to see Phantom of the Opera soon and I can't wait!
Hello to you too Marie, I don't really mind what people call me, so whatever is easiest for you! Most people tend to just shorten my name to SJ or Sarah, and that's fine. Only time I find Sarah confusing is when there's several of us on the thread! LOL
Bless your little man, I hope he feels a lot better very soon. There seems to be so much going around at the moment. My whole family was out over Christmas with various illnesses, was horrible! LOL My breakfast this morning was a small bowl of Oats 'N' More... I've never had it before (I never normally eat breakfast) but it was nice, I really enjoyed it!
Exercise wise I am mainly walking my kids to school each day. This week that involves two rounds a day of about a mile each time, but next week it'll be 3 trips a day as my DD2 starts at the schools nursery next week, but it's only half days which is mega annoying as it means I have to do three school runs a day instead of the normal two! I'm also currently just bugging my DH into letting me go to an exercise class once a week called Bokwa. It's sort of like a variant of Zumba I think... I've never tried either but really want to tone up so badly and I know if I just do it at home I'll not bother!
So, what's everyone having for their meals today? This morning I had my cereal, and for lunch I had a ham sandwich and an orange and for dinner I will probably have a small portion of cottage pie with a slice of garlic bread... I'm not used to eating three times a day so this is hopefully not only going to kick start some healthy eating habits but also get me into the routine of eating proper meals!
HELLO LADDDIIEEESSSS !! ( super excited) well this morning im actually having slim Fast for breakfast since its quick because i have to leave home by 6 to be at work on time . I will try to drink 8 glasses of water today so i can gain points!! Its soo good to feel like we all are embarking on a wonderful journey together!! Lets go HARVEST HOPEFULSS!!
Hey Ladies! Short lull in my workday right before lunch so I thought I'd pop on, been super busy since the Military are all back from their Christmas Block Leave.
I had a protein shake (with some fiber added to it) for breakfast since I'm so busy int he AM and don't really have a chance to make or eat much of anything, this way I can carry it around and sip as I get everyone ready! I even leave DD's breakfast stuff out on the counter at night so she can get her own cereal in the morning.
For lunch I have a small slice of leftover meat and veggie pie I made last night. I did have a small peice of b'day cake for my mid morning snack. We had my nephew's b'day party at my house yeaterday and I was left with a TON of cake - so I brought it in to be pawned off on my coworkers
I didn't manage to get up early enough for yoga this morning - mondays are always so hard. I'm heading to the gym after work today (thank goodness for grandparents!) and I'll probably do about 45 mins to 1 hour of cardio (running and elipitcal) and 20 minutes of weight machines. I'm excited to start 'Bellyfit' classes on wednesday, it's a mixture of bellydance, cardio, yoga, etc and it's such a great work out! I'll be doing that every wednesday evening and trying to do a good gym session at least 2 other nights. I also have a treadmill at home and do yoga in the mornings (when I can drag my arse out of bed).

Sarah, I have to get into the habit of eating breakfast too. I'm bad and usually have a gallon of coffee instead. Real healthy.
You walk all that way with your LOs? I bow before you!! You are a mommy beast! I don't think my ONE two year old could handle a trip like that. Do they like talking walks or are some mornings a struggle?

For breakfast so far, just a black forest cake yogurt. I also forced myself to down a cup of water too. One down, 9 to go. Lol. My mom wants to have lunch somewhere so I think i'll stick with soup wherever we go. For dinner, still not sure. I'd like to roast up some carrots and potatoes I have. Meat is the challenge.

I used to do a workout like that 5 or 6 times a week - I worked nextdoor to my gym and went at lunch - I miss that! I started teh AM Yoga last week, I just find Mondays so much harder I think I'll give myself a break as long as I manage to hit the gym. I have found it so much harder to lose or even maintain my weight since TTC. Here's a weird story....
For many years I struggled to lose weight, I tried everything didn't help. During that time I was not on any birth control because my EX husband had a vasectomy when DD was 3/4 months old. Immediately after my split my doc put me on BC again and 6 months later I had lost a total of 70 lbs, yes I'd been going to the gym and running but I'd done that in the past as well. I ate well but ate what I wanted and didn't deprive myself. Fast Forward to last November when we decided to TTC, I stopped BC and almost immediately gained 20lbs, went back to struggling with my weight and now I'm 65 lbs heavier than I was when I went off BC last November!!! My doctor has done some bloodwork trying to figure out WTF is wrong with me....
Whoaahh I hope your doctor can help you ! I am also going to my doctor to see if somethin is wrong with me as well because i hardly eat bad thing let alone food at all and im not dropping the weight fast enough ! Im literally pushing myself to go to the gym today because AF just showed but she wont slow me down ! Im going to weigh myself today ughh not looking forward to it at ALL !! But hey gotta do it !
Tasha - be careful, not eating enough can actually cause you to GAIN weight! I've used myfitnesspal.com and I liked it (especially since there is an app for my phone), and it's good because it will warn you if you don't eat enough, and you can track all your calories in and out!
As for me, all my bloodwork has come back normal :/
