Do you ever get?

In a funk? Where you wonder how am I going to keep doing this? We were DONE @ 3 and then I got pregnant on birth control then when the baby was 2 months old we got my sisters 5. Sometimes I just crave a simple life again. Do any of you go through that? It lasts a couple to a few days when I get like that and I don't want to feel that way, but I just can't help it. 9 kids is a lot, lot, lot of work!!!!! I knew you ladies would understand! Even you Mama's that have several by choice, do you ever feel that way? I know it should get easier as I will only have 2 home during the day when school starts......Yeah!!!! I can't wait! Thanks for letting me vent!

I can only imagine how much harder it would be with nine. Sometimes I wonder what I've gotten myself into with the three that I currently have, but then I think about the relationships that they will form with each other and know that it will all be alright. :bigarmhug:

Yes, honestly, the other day I started crying and told my husband, "I'm so tired. I don't know how I'm going to do this. I'm currently pregnant with our #11 (my 7th) which was a surprise and at age 38 I feel so old compared to my earlier pregnancies. And then it passes and I have little moments in my days with my kids which make me smile and laugh and remember that it will all turn out fine even if my house isn't perfectly clean, doesn't look like all of my pinterest boards and we sometimes eat sandwiches for dinner!

Sandwiches are a perfect dinner!! What?! Cereal for dinner on the other hand.... ;)

Yes! I do get tired of always running to yet another chore , especially when it gets so hectic that I have at least 3 things at once that I am doing and nothing ever gets done without interruptions... yeah... or I get that feeling when I am filling cups with drinks for dinner. By the time I am done filling the last person's drink, the first ones give me their cups for refills... i know that there might be a better way of serving dinner and stuff, but yeah... it is always a lot of work!
Laundry too. also the noise when they are all home. The squabbles... Oy!
So hugs Heather- you are not alone in feeling this way and it is wonderful of you to be a mommy to your sisters kids too!

Thanks Ladies so much for the comforting words! I'm better today....Although I'm sure that these days will roll around every now & then. I really try to look at life very simply these days. I get really wound up when we have sickies and we have had several sick lately. It really adds workload (more laundry, medicine, dr.s appts) I haven't learned how to manage that yet. I'm really trying though. I've been very stressed as well because my Mom hasn't spoken to me in a month & 1/2 so it bothers me that she is such a trivial person and that adds a lot of anxiety for me. I'm sure that things will be fine in the long run. Thanks again ladies!!! Hugs!

Is there anyone else in the family to help with your sister's kids. I am currently pregnant with #4 and the subject of who would take our kids has come up recently. I know I dont want my kids separated, but I also know that an additional 4 kids is a lot for anyone to handle, no matter how many they have of their own. I also know that there are certain people in our family, whom I love, but wouldnt want raising my kids for a # of reasons. So, I talked with my mom and step dad, since they seem to be the most logical choice at the moment. We talked about how it would work financially for her, and such. The thinking, at the moment, is that IF something were to happen to us, she and my step dad would be the primary guardians, but then the rest of our families (both the rest of my side, as well as DH's side) would help out. Dividing up holidays, helping on breaks from school, maybe taking them for a weekend here and there, and then splitting the summers up. Our oldest is 6 right now, so obviously the plan can change based on the kids's age.

My recommendation is to get more of your family, and the father's family, involved if you can. Its not a sign of weakness to ask for help. In the end you will be happier, as well as all of the kids. Just my 2 cents ;)

LOL.. I make even my 2 year old get his own water! Everyone gets their own water as desired throughout the day. They do have to drink it in the kitchen. I only let them have water as the rule and milk twice a day. So they have their plastic cups out on the counter and they take their own water from the fridge door thingy. Im a meanie lol...who needs help with bedtime. =D

Heather I don't know the kids' ages but I totally think they need to take more care of themselves and responsibility for their things. They need to do at least one or two small chores a day, maybe on a rotating basis. The work should not be all on you. They CAN do what they CAN do if you know what I mean. They will always let you do everything. It's good for kids to be responsible for something.

I wasn't kidding when I replied to Asha's post.. I make my 2 y/o get his own water. He's perfectly able. He is very good about taking care of his thirst. It was a little messy at first but after a few tries we were fine plus I leave a towel on the counter so he can wipe it up. And he does. I don't know what you're doing for everyone they need to be doing quite a bit of it. The kids have to make their beds, clean their toys up, and put their laundry in their closets. I just fold and am teaching them how. I have a cleaning lady who cleans bathrooms and major scrubbing, baseboards, and big projects that I'll never be able to do etc. I do daily upkeep and sweeping as needed, cooking, etc. I try to cook for two days at a time and still try to freeze some from that to make quick lunches. My husband usually splits the household in some form and takes the kids out of the house to play while I sleep. But I don't have 9 of all of your ages.

And yes I get worn out from mine. Sometimes I just want to close the door and let them do whatever they want! to dream. I am expecting our fifth baby so I am so very tired...like tired doesn't cut it. My husband is home and very involved so that saves me. I love this time at night right now when everyone's sleeping and it's quiet.

I'm so glad to hear other moms feel that way sometimes! Whew. I feel bad sometimes when I think how much I'd like a break for a few days. I know I only have 3, but I'm at that lovely stage of pregnancy where I'm completely exhausted all the time and it's wearing me down.
