    Default doc apt.

Had a doctor's apt. which went well. Im scheduled for my surgery Thursday and the doc is hooking me up with a therapist who specializes in anxiety and modalities to cope with anxiety without meds. I figured its time for me to do something, because things are kind of spinning out of control with my anxiety level these days. I actually started crying talking about it...I was really embarassed, but the doc was super nice and really understanding. I hope it will help. He is also sending me to a perinatologist to take a look at baby and make sure baby and cervix are looking good. He doesnt trust the last ultrasound result, he didnt say much else except he thought that with my age, and the last scan he really wanted me to see them (the group). So..my apt with the specialists is Jan 12th. T&P for a safe surgery without a complete anxiety melt down would be appreciated!! Thanks..and Ill kup in days to come!

Im having my cerclage put in. The stitch to keep my cervix closed during the pregnancy. Its not that big of a deal, it takes about 30 minutes for the surgery...but they do give me a spinal for anesthesia (which I HATE) and they do NOT give me anything for nerves (because of the health of the baby) and I have REALLy been struggling with anxiety for the last year....with EVERYTHING. Blood draws, dentists, hair appointments...its so weird and I have NO idea what is wrong...but I feel like I get panic attacks...for routine things now...and its become very disruptive. SO now something that I used to find remotely stressful (this is the 9th cerclage I have had)...I am finding to be sooo unbelievably stressful to me...I have cried several times just thinking about the surgery. I feel like Im totally losing my mind...I really wish I knew how to get control of this anxiety...but I cant!! Anyways...my doc said he might try iv benedryl which will be safe for baby to see if it will give me a sedative effect....if I get too panicky during the procedure. Right now Im just trying to stay calm as I go into the final hours of tonight and I pray tomorrow flies by and I make it through the procedure without making a total fool of myself in the process!!

I'm sorry about the anxiety. I wonder if you could find a therapist who could do non-medical therapy with you, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or hypnotism, which would be safe for the baby and help you cope with your anxiety.

ITS OVER!! It went ok...I did panick a bit. But...they gave me something safe through the iv and it ended up being fine!! The spinal took too long to where off and my bladder didnt wake up in the appropriate amount of time...so they put a catheter in and sent me home over night with it....that was a nightmare...but its over...and I survived...although not the most poised patient they saw...its over. My doctor's ex wife apparantly specializes in anxiety and non medical modalities to over come it...he is going to send me to see her after the first of the year...he said he KNOWS with my last baby (who is only 18 months old) that I was not like this...and he said he feels like its bad enough that we need to address it. So...Im hopeful that I can get back control!

Glad to hear that the surgery went well and that your DR is being proactive with the anxiety issues. I hope you are able to find something to help. *hugs*
