HPT question UPDATED

****UPDATE****** FRER came up lightly BFP this morning. Freaking out...

Alright ladies. We have all taken our fair share of HPTs, right? I should be able to read one at this point. I am a few days late...though, maybe not really because I've only recently had AF return PP because Oakley is nursing less at night these days. So maybe I'm just still on a wonky time frame for my cycle? Dh keeps teasing me out that I'm pg! Not that I would hate it, but we haven't really decided if we are going to go for a #5 for be done at 4 :/ So my question is...if you read a test within the time frame it says, should you be able to see anything in the 2nd line area? I took 2 different tests this morning. One was a dollar tree brand and the other was some generic "compare to EPT" test. The EPT-off brand was blue dye, the other red. Definitely in the $tree test there is a white line where the test line would appear if it were positive. It showed up within 2-3 minutes. But only if I hold it slightly slanted. Should I be able to see where the line would be with a negative result? And the blue dye one has an every so slight blue line if I hold it right and squint. I'm trying to tell myself they are just where the line would show up had they detected anything. I have had a little bit of pinkish spotting (I thought af was starting Sat when she was due--I am always a 28 day like clockwork) but then just some slight brown here and there since. Dh said it was due to a sensitive cervix being pg since we had a nice romantic date night sat night--what the heck I told him! (like I said, we are both on the fence over a 5th). Ideas?

I would say that it's inconclusive as of right now. Get a FRER or an Answer ER. Yes you can sometimes see a white line where the colored second line would be and that doesn't mean you are pg (it doesn't mean you're not either) and we all know how notorious blue dyes are for false lines so you really can't go by a very faint line you thought you saw. The spotting may mean AF is coming or it could be implantation. I'm no help am I?

Thanks for the reply. The tiny spotting I had Sat night and yesterday completely stopped. It was a tiny amount anyways. It was pinkish sat night and brownish yesterday, and non-existent today. I have another test--the one was a 2 pack. I'll try again tomorrow morning and see if I can't ease my mind that it was just nothing. :/ Like I said, still on the fence and would be happy obviously--but, yeah...you know. We have a lot of changes happening right now and are looking to move soon too.

The dollar tree one should not show any line. That is the only kind I have ever used. The blue ones can have a shadow. Try again in a couple days, and I bet it will be positive.

Hm... :/ Well AF hasn't shown up yet. Still feeling crampy. Maybe it's just a really long build-up? Because the 2nd cheapo test from the pack came up neg today, no shadow. I think my body is messing with my head. But it sure is nerve-wracking!

How nerve wracking! I'd go get a good quality test just to be sure - I'd be going insane!

Your cycle could just be totally wonky though, after decreasing nursing.

Sandra!!! You're expecting another boy!! Wonderful!! And congrats! I have been away from the boards too long. How are your little ones? Can Ella really be in Kindergarten this year? I should pop over to some of my other boards and see how they are these days.

And yes, my cycle might just be wonky. I'm trying really hard to resist testing again for a few days. I just hate not knowing!

I had a couple of things like you are describing while bfing over the years. My guess is that your cycle is just still off because of you bfing. The bleeding you had was probably your form of a period. I know I had that a couple of times while bfing my DD especially. Hang in there. I'd say test again in a couple of days and see. You could also go into your dr office and get your blood draw just to see whats up for sure

Maybe that's just it--which would be a relief! I know it isn't always in our hands, but I like to plan a bit if I can. I still haven't started AF and had another BFN today--on another $tree test.

But now dh is not very happy--he had been planning for a month that I would be just finished with my cycle and be "safe" for valentines day, since all we ever use is condoms. But now I told him if I am not sure about when I'm "safe" and I haven't had a BFP to tell me it doesn't matter anyways, then NO WAY! LOL

Ba ha ha! I was wondering if you were going to get that BFP. I tried to blame a wonky cycle too, and look where I am Smile

Thanks ladies! I'm cautious about getting to attached to the idea yet though--I took the 2nd FRER from the box today and it came up just as light as yesterday. And I'm supposed to be 1 week overdue for AF tomorrow. So unless I O'd really, really late that I'm only getting a faint + right now because the test is so sensitive, then I worry about it being a chemical pregnancy. I had one of those back in fall 2010, then I got pg again, and had a m/c in jan 2011, then I finally got my Oakley who was born in Jan 2012. So I worry with the faint lines.... :/

hmmm. Maybe you ovulated late??? I know that after I had DS2 I had some weird bleeding that I wasnt sure if it was a period of not when he was about 8 months old. So, I took a friend's advice and used FF to track and see if I was ovulating or not. Well, according to FF I never ovulated... yet, here is DD lol. I went in with a due date of early Aug '10 according to LMP, only to have it turn out that I ovulated 10 days later than expected. Its not all that common, but it does happen.
