Yeah, that can cost! Only our oldest so far needed orthodontics ( a whole bunch of treatment) but thanks to the wonderful dental plan we had- we only had to pay a $1,000 fpr it. Even that seemed a lot ( and it is a lot!)
Nobody else so far needs work- phew!

Then the driver's ed costs about $400.00 not to mention we will probably help him buy a car....
yeah, they do get more expensive with time!

400 for drivers ed! WOW! I remember mine was 150.00! It's funny when they are little you don't think about braces or anything else because you want to enjoy them little but as they grow it's like ok here we go! We know there is a chance they all will need braces and we know they all will need drivers ed and thats ok but that is just showing me they are growing!!!

I am glad I am not the Duggars and have 8 kids in braces at ONCE!

Yeah, could be worse! I'm not too worried I guess, we have a fairly good dental plan and our dentist offers a supplemental insurance that is pretty cheap and would further reduce the cost. I'd have to check but I don't think it'd be more than $1,000 which isn't bad considering all the benefits of a good smile

Kodey is in them now......total cost $5400......I had to have $1200 up front and am paying $198 a month for them. Kaleb will need them also however their ortho wants them to have all their adult teeth AND all of their 12 yr molars. Kaleb still has one adult tooth not completely in and a 12 yr molar we are waiting on.

I feel your pain! My oldest child is in step 2(the crossbow), and carries on to step 3 (the full set of braces) in the new year. He has already had a partial set of braces on before the crossbow. All this to fix what I thought was 1 tooth that stuck out!! $6300 later, he should have great teeth and he better smile alot!!! I want my moneys worth!

Now I am told our daughter needs work....O boy!!!

They said a few years ago that Patrick would need braces eventually, but I haven't heard anything since then. I'm not looking forward to it. I've never been told that any of the other kids would be needing them.

And what is it with braces these days? It seems like so many kids get them. When I was growing up, you had to have really bad teeth to "need" braces.

I think maybe some dentists push them more Deb.
We had our dentist appointment today, she said we could talk more about it when DD1 is in middle school. At this point it doesn't look like she'll really need them but she has a molar that was damaged and might need to be pulled and if that is the case she said she'll need a spacer and it might 'mess up' her other teeth. Oh and it'll cost way more than I thought With the supplemental insurance it'd be over $3,000, still worth it but quite the difference in price .
