Went to the dentist today...3 of my kids had appointments and i had 6 of the kids with me...2 were at school. The kids were pretty good...not the best not the worst....but I was patient and dealt with any trouble as it came and it quickly passed. At the end of the 1.5 it took there we went to leave, and a woman stopped me and said, "You are amazing with them!!! You truly seem to have a gift....you are so patient and its clear you are doing exactly what you were supposed to do"......now that may have been the nicest compliment I have EVER received!! You totally have to enjoy it when this happens...because tomorrow you very well may get the negative....but I have been working on that part of me...and you know what...I think I could take the negative better if it came tomorrow than I could have 6 months ago....and that feels REALLY good!!!
Love it! It is so nice to have positive feedback on being a mom--especially a mom of many! Rather than the negative. Good for her for actually saying it--sometimes I think people are more apt to voice the snide rather than build someone up. I have had recent comments about how well behaved my children are when we are in public--those are always nice to hear too! I feel like I might be doing something right when I hear that
How wonderful to hear someone say something nice! I, too, feel like people are more likely to say something criticizing parenting than complimenting it. Good for you taking 6 kids to the dentist. I'm impressed, too!

Well, she was right, wasn't she?
I've gotten comments like that before, and it just makes you feel so much more positive about what you are doing. Sometimes, it's so easy to get dragged down. More people should try to make uplifting comments when they see good people doing good things.

That's so great! I know there's been a few times when I've gotten those "looks" from people... like I shouldn't be out in public with four kids... they do make noise people! But it's so nice when you do get those rare comments. I got one a couple of months ago at an Outback Steakhouse, after we were finished eating the lady at the booth behind us said, "Your kids are so well behaved, it's nice to see that." That was nice to hear!
