    Default Settling in!

Well, it's definitely interesting out here!

I am now home with the kids, which is mostly great (except for some times I scratch my head wondering what I am doing and how I got here!). Dh is gone for 2 weeks at a time, and then back home for 2 weeks. I am going for my second 2 week away stint and am looking forward to him coming back..

Garden Bug and my dad came out and visited and helped which was great. I have tons of photos (I will update when I get a chance). We have TONS of work to do still, but need to keep ticking away at the list one piece at a time. This week we hope to put up a wall between the kids rooms and paint them. Then make chicken tractors for our new chicks we are getting at the end of the month, and get a new puppy on the 16.

The move did not come without any excitement which included the passing of our dear puppy that we got last spring on Easter Sunday (he lost a race with a truck). Then we proceeded to be terribly sick for a couple weeks.

But now we are healthy (except this nagging sinus infection that won't go away) and we have been eating our own chicken eggs (we got 6 chickens and a rooster to go in the old chicken coop).

I will give a more thorough update with photos at a later date!

Good to know you all made it and are settling in a bit. With all of the changes, give it time! It's a whole new life for all of you- it will eventually feel like your life. It took me a year and we didn't even move that far.
I am sorry that your puppy passed and that you all got sick! You probably will need antibiotics for that sinus infection, you don't want it to get worse.
Can't wait to see some pics, but do understand that it might take a while!

P.S. I just drove through Ontario to go to St Catherines. There was a regatta there for my two rowers. Not sure if I passed by Gardenbugs house or not Took 401 and 403...

Aw so glad to hear you're all settling in. I'm sorry to hear about your puppy though, how sad.

It sounds lovely, I can't wait to see pictures!

No, you didn't pass by Gardenbug's but you were probably only an hour from there! Funny you say that, but they have decided to move out here! They are in the process of selling their gorgeous place, to a smaller, less gorgeous, but still very fine, property 3km from us! It will be a big change for us to have them so close, but it will be wonderful! We are all pretty excited about that as it was quite a surprise.

Oh My Gosh!! That's wonderful news! Being close to loving grandparents is the best thing ever! I know Gardenbug will move as many of her beautiful plants as possible and have her gardens in the new place. Wow, Sarah I am really happy for you and slightly jealous...

Our farm is sold and we will move to BC around the end of September. DH has retired and we have had a wonderful party for him. Lots of work to make this move happen! We have pets and plants and furniture to deal with. Cars too. It will all come together I hope! The barn is pretty much cleared out now.

Sarah has a wonderful new puppy to (eventually) protect their chickens from critters.
I spoke to Leo on the phone yesterday. He was delighted to have a day out with his Mama. They were on the ferry and were going to collect baby chickens. His Daddy has been working hard on the kids' bedrooms which are looking mighty fine now.

It really sounds like the best scenario ever - being close to your beloved grandkids! I know it will be a hard transition with all that needs to be taken care off, but eventually the dust will settle down and a new life will begin!
