surgery is scheduled

My surgery will be next Friday (June 24). It will be (99% sure) laparoscopic, with 2-4 hours for surgery, 3 days in the hospital, 7-10 days on liquid diet, and 2-3 weeks off work. The surgeon explained that my stomach is in the chest cavity and flipped over. The surgery is called "repair of giant hiatal hernia with Nissen fundoplication." The upside is that my MIL is able to come for a week, then my SIL will take four of the kids for 2 weeks (or more). The aide will be at the daycare during the day to take care of Isaiah.

That's good that they will be able to fix your stomach so soon. How do you eat for now? Does it hurt? It's also good to hear that you will have help with the children!

It's definitely uncomfortable but doesn't hurt most of the time. When it does, I've got Percocet to take care of it. I can eat small meals, but I'm afraid to eat too much, particularly sweets, because I don't want my stomach to get bloated. That can be painful. Once I have the surgery, I'll be on a liquid diet for 7-10 days, hopefully not more. I was just talking to a lady at church whose friend had the surgery and had to be on liquids for a month.

I would most definitely appreciate a boring life for awhile. We've had enough excitement.
