    Default update

I just wanted to post a little update:

Isaiah's finally out of the hospital and into inpatient rehab. He will be having therapies (PT, OT, Speech) twice a day, and they will keep him pretty busy during the week. I'm spending the nights at home because the "bed" they have in the room is the most uncomfy thing I've ever tried to sleep on (and I've slept in a tent without an air mattress). They take good care of him, though, and can call me at any time.

Caleb was accepted into the school for the performing arts for 7th grade. He's really excited. He is a drummer.

LOSS MENTIONED: I'm doing pretty well. I had an ER visit a couple of weeks ago for continued bleeding after my m/c, and I was already anemic from the loss, so they put me on the pill. I'm still having occasional breakthrough spotting. I went to see a perinatologist, and he was super nice. He wanted me to get tested for an autoimmune clotting disorder. If I have it, it would explain all of my losses and would be dangerous to get pg again. It can also cause unexpected blood clots at any time, which have the potential to lead to hear attack or stroke at an early age. So, I'm going to get tested. There's a 6% chance of false positive, so if you're positive, you have to redo the test 3 months later.

Thomas was evaluated and diagnosed with ADHD, Inattentive Type. Nobody is surprised at this, as he has showed symptoms since he was about a year old. I'm going to have a medication evaluation for him. I wanted to hold off, but after seeing him break down in tears because he got lost on his way from his classroom to the office, I felt I had to do something.

Otherwise, the kids are all doing great. They are all straight A students. The other four have been reacting to Isaiah being gone, but I think they will be doing better once things get settled down a bit. I plan to spend the days at home while Isaiah is in therapy and then visit him from about 4 pm till bed time.

If you read all of this, thanks for your perseverance.

You know you are my hero Deb, right? I hope Isaiah's health improves every day so he can join his family!
Hugs about the ADHD diagnosis- it's such a dilemma when we try to decide what's best: drugs or waiting it out/ therapy, but as a mom you know what your baby needs! Still - hugs.
Kudos on everyone being great at school!!!

I am going to keep you in my thoughts- I hope you don't have the clotting disorder.

My first response is "Oh no, not more worries!" but actually, I really feel you are a super family and care for each other so very well! Life has its challenges for everyone and it is wonderful to know you two parents are gifted at facing what comes your way and that you have things to be proud of as well. I'm happy you are investigating your health issues and hope you find a means of keeping things under control! You deserve the best!

I'm sorry things aren't going better, but it sounds like you are doing an amazing job. Good luck with your testing and I hope Isaiah continues to improve.

Seriously Deb if I could handle all that you do with such grace and calm my life would be 10 times easier! I am constantly in a worried frenzy about something or other though that is my personality, if God saw fit to give it to me there must be a reason. You ARE a supermom! Im so glad to hear Isaiah is out of the hospital though I wish he was home with his family, but he's where he needs to be for now and I hope will join the crew at home soon. I am sorry you had to go back to the ER for bleeding. I hemmoraged right after having Noah so I think that helped with the bleeding afterwards though I did bleed lightly and spot for what seemed like forever. I hope your body gets back to normal soon. I will pray that you dont have that clotting disorder as well it sounds scary.

Thanks, Ladies. Isaiah is back in the hospital. This is the second time he's been sent back by the rehab facility. He continues to vomit several times a day due to his dystonia. The neurologist is working on it. We may or may not be able to improve the situation, or it may be a symptom we will have to live with. I will try to be better about keeping you all updated.

I had the blood test but haven't heard the results yet. I'm feeling much better now that I've had time to recover more and have been taking iron supplements. I finished my set of BCP, and I'm hoping that my cycle straightens out now.

And, just FYI, the clotting disorder (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) is treatable with blood thinners and baby aspirin. It would still be dangerous to get pg, though, because in addition to the risk of loss, which can be minimized with treatment but not eliminated, there's also a higher chance of preeclampsia that can't be prevented.
