Thumbs down Went to Drs today

And they're doing tests for pre-menopause... I've been having a lot of symptoms of it for over a year now (hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, fatigue, weight gain, irregular cycles, headaches, heart palpitations etc) and what with my mum, her 5 sisters and my gran all starting menopause in their 30s I'm quite worried! LOL

So yeah, apparently they're going to do some FSH blood test? And check my thyroid as well, and then we'll go from there. Don't know what we'll do if it comes back saying it is, as I'm not allowed HRT and he's already talking about it...

Don't know what we'll do if the tests show this is the start of it all kicking off! LOL We've been to'ing and fro'ing about having a #8 in about 5 years time (give myself enough time to properly gain my health back after the other kids, hopefully move to a bigger house and sort out our finances a bit better)... I don't really feel the need to rush into it, so I guess we'll just wait and see. If it happens as planned then it does and if it's too late, I guess that's life and it was never meant to be!

Its never fun to have someone else decide when your family is finished. Hugs there! As to other stuff, hopefully you will get some answers and can go from there.

I nursed my twins for 2years and 2 weeks! A little sad to be all done now.

I'm just annoyed I guess. I've been going back to them for the same problems for well over a year now, and this was one of the reasons for having the Mirena in (to regulate periods)... And then they talk about me needing to seriously consider a hysterectomy to help with my periods, and when I go to them and say "you know what, this has been going on over a year now and I really think that XYZ could be the cause" suddenly it's too early.... Stupid NHS Drs... Just want an answer to why I feel bad so often, and I want a fix! LOL

That IS frustrating! I remember you saying before they were suggesting a hysto, but it sounds so drastic when there may be less invasive things to try first.

Hugs. Early menopause also runs in my family. My mom was 40 when her periods stopped. I hope you can find more compassionate doctors. Did the Mirena decrease the amount of blood for you at all?

Well, it has and it hasn't... I now pretty much have one long continuous AF, but it's really light, unless I am having what I assume would be my "normal" period (I haven't had normal periods since Robin was born though) when it's still pretty heavy and painful.

The Drs argument was that I have been super fertile up until recently, so apparently it can't really be perimenopause starting... TBH though he didn't seem to have ever even heard of perimenopause, so he wasn't really a lot of help! LOL

I think if the blood tests don't come back with anything conclusive I am going to go to a private clinic, as I really am sick of being in limbo right now. Constantly feeling run down and I swear I am sick to death of this bloody hot flushes and night sweats - they're worse for me than any of the other symptoms!

Can you send that my way? I wish I could convince my OB to just scoop me out after Finn is born. But seriously, all kidding aside, I'm sorry Like someone else said, it is one thing to decide for yourself whether or not you are done with babies and quite another for someone to make that choice for you. Thinking of you...

Sorry I hope you can get some answers about what's going on. I'm not real sure what to expect as far as menopause since both of my grandma's had hysterectomies in their 30s so I just have my mom and her sister to guess from (my dad is 1 of 6 boys )

I am going through the exact same thing. I am 40 now and my mom had her last period when she was 40. I was having hot flushes, looong cycles ( I am having one right now) and emotional changes. I have been looking into it the past couple years (I think I have posted this a couple times already) and I am frustrated too as I am contemplating #5, though my body may be telling me otherwise. I take red clover blossom tea and my hot flushes have completely stopped. I guess that is one thing!

Let me know what you find out, this is a major topic in my life right now and I am very confused about where to go from here!
