Fears

Anyone else's LO have any fears? Faith is afraid of fly's. I knew she didn't like birds, but we got rid of ours a few months back. Although I can control the flys to some degree I don't think I can eliminate them entirely. I guess I will be teaching her to use the fly swatter.

Not fears, exactly, but B has developed a great aversion to putting on his shoes. He got sticker-burrs in his feet from walking through the dead grass in open-toed sandals, and so he's pretty solidly associated almost all of his footwear with sticker-burrs. Sandals, sneakers... if I can even get them halfway on his feet in the first place, he'll say, "It hurts! It hurts!" but usually he just runs away from them the moment he sees me pick them up. The only exception is his cowboy boots, which I try to keep in reserve as potty-training rewards.

Oh no! Sad

Isla gets really freaked out about going in public restrooms. When I take her she will get scared right as we walk in the door. We have to go in and out several times before she can steel herself up to just peepee. She'll keep telling me she has to go and then when we walk in the door she starts going "no, no I don't want to!!" Sigh.

Viv has lots of fears right now. She's afraid of thunder and other loud noises. She's afraid of the dark. Also, she had a nightmare about an octopus in her crib a few weeks ago and she's been talking a lot about octopuses (octopi), so I think she's scared of them.

Poor thing! Although I might rather that than the issue I had on the weekend with Cooper, and that was he wanted to go IN every porta john there was at the derby track. He'd nicely point out that there was poopoo in it, then move on to the next one.

Cooper doesn't seem to be scared of anything that I can think of, although he HATES being layed down on his back in the water. Even in 2 inches in the tub. Sigh.

Lauren - I think Eli may have had a "silent" phobia when he first potty trained. He didn't completely freak out, but we couldn't get him to go. It took a while, but he no longer has issues.

Mandy - how did you know she had a nightmare about octopuses specifically?

Andrea - ROFL

Gerryberry - awwwwwwwwwwww!!

Kaelan gets freaked out at night when the cats are being rowdy because he doesn't know what the noise is. He has nightmares sometimes too, luckily they aren't very often at all. He wakes up crying and tells me about it when I go comfort him. He had one a couple fo weeks ago and he said that Thomas (the train) was falling and went crash. He was rather sad about it, but I cuddled with him for 15 minutes and read him a happy book and he went right back to sleep.

He doesn't have any fears that I know of yet otherwise.
