I don't think I posted it here, but I know some of you saw on FB. My dad had surgery 2 weeks ago and I went down to be with my mom until he went to wherever he was suppose to go for recovery. Well the surgery itself went great. No complications and he woke up right away and didn't even need to go to ICU after (they sent him to the step down unit). All seemed to be going well until they transferred him to the nursing home and he started going downhill quickly. They never came to check on him after 7 hours, the nurses were rude and were not going to make sure things that needed monitoring were actually being monitored (his oxygen, his carbs since he's on an insulin pump, and some other things). So I had him transferred back to the hospital. It turned out his blood count was low and he ended up needing a blood transfusion. Once they had that on board and they stopped shoving pain pills down his throat when he said his pain was a 1 (he was NOT reacting well to them) he started doing MUCH better. I was finally able get him moved to an intensive inpatient rehabilitation unit at the other hospital down near them. He has made MAJOR improvements. So I was able to come home late yesterday. Now to get the house in order.
