Mini Vacation

Turns out I do get to go somewhere for Spring Break or at least a couple days of it. My uncle finally (after like close to 8 or so years of being on L and I) gets to retire. His daughter is having a small dinner for him at her house so me and the kiddos are going to go there for a few days early next week. Yay I get to leave my house for something other than going to the dr or therapy!!! Yahoo :woohoo:

It went good. Had fun visiting my cousin's. It's never long enough though. I wish I had family that lived really close. DH's family, er I mean his parents live 5-10 minutes away (he's an only child and only has 1 aunt and 1 uncle and we NEVER do anything with them). They go away every year (or so it seems) for Thanksgiving. Christmas they basically dropped off the kids presents and went home. And now for Easter we aren't doing anything. I don't want to cook and my family is too far to drive for 1 day. So many problems with Eli's health right now and not sure where to go, who to call and feeling very homesick. Sorry that turned into a vent. I've just been feeling really lonely for MY extended family lately.

Can you plan a big gathering sometime in the future?

At Christmas last year, I put dibs on Thanksgiving being at my place this year. I figured 11 months to get their schedules in order was sufficient notice. Biggrin Since it's a four-day weekend, it helps make travel less of a problem, since the close ones live about 4 hrs away and the far ones lives 8 hrs away.

Memorial Day weekend... Fourth of July weekend... see what works with your calendar and see if you can get some of your family to come by for a visit. Smile

That is the thing is I don't have the energy or mental strength to plan anything. That's why I don't want to do Easter. I did Thanksgiving and Christmas. Eli's health just keeps going down hill so me planning ANYTHING is completely out. It's just frustrating being so far away. If I was only driving 30 minutes I'd completely invite myself to one of my families houses.
