New Minot, ND Flood Info - PRAYERS PLEASE! (UPDATE 6-23)

New crest level is expected to be 1666 -- additional evacuations have been ordered. Keep praying -- the next 24 hours are critical as to whether they can re-enforce and build up levees and dikes to handle the new crest projection.

Hi All:

New crest expected in Minot – record breaking! The prior crest from June 1 was “only” 1554.02! (Flood stage is 1549 feet). New levels expected to be 1563.1. To put things into perspective, these levels will exceed the 1969 level of 1555.4 and exceed the all time recorded flood stage level of 1558 in 1881. It will be 7 to 8 feet higher then the levels reached in the 1969 flood.

My parents are once again under mandatory evacuations; they have to be out by Wednesday, 10pm. That may change however, as the river level is current as I type this, above the crest level from June 1 when they last had to evacuate. The press release gives the details of the three dams that are currently releasing flows that are causing this flooding.

Oh Christa I'm sorry it has taken a turn for the worst. I have been thinking of them whenever I see the news coverage. I hope they're wrong :(.

I've been following on FB, but how scary. Dear friends that live in Vermont had a storm that caused a mudslide to go into there home and she talked about the damage done that didn't even reach the floor (it just went under) so I can't even imagine the damage from water in the house and OVER the house. Sad and scary. How are your parents and family holding up?
