Costochondritis anyone?

My doctor informed me that the horrible pain I've been experiencing under my right ribcage is this lovely thing called costochondritis, which basically is due to my ribcage expanding and as a result its causing inflammation of the cartilage. The only relief I get is laying down until the pain stops (it's intermittent) but when I'm at work I have to suffer through it because I sit all night. Good grief this hurts!

Yep, I've had that before. Painful as sin. Try some tylenol to help with inflammation. Ibuprofen in the best, but can't use that. Sad

That sounds painful and painful to pronounce! At least you can get some relief at home. Could you lay down on chairs in the breakroom maybe?

Unfortunately, no. I wish I could! And Tylenol barely even helps take the edge off my headaches so it doesn't even touch this pain. I iced it at bedtime today and it seemed to help for the moment. Maybe I can strap on an icepack at work, LOL. I hope the pain doesn't intensify as I get bigger. That will really suck.

That sounds exactly like a pain I've had on and off. Such a bizarre spot I couldn't imagine what it was from. If it had been on the left side I would have thought it was something related to my heart. Did the Dr. mention if it would most likely end at a certain point in your pregnancy or maybe just randomly disappear all together?

No, he didn't say one way or the other. I've been doing some reading though and some women have it their entire pregnancy, and other people have it without even being pregnant. I sure hope it goes away soon, or at least when the pregnancy is over!

I've had it without being pregnant. When my allergies were the worst, my lining would flare.

Oh that sounds miserable! I really hope you get some relief and that it doesn't get worse further along!
