DH and i will never...

agree on a name! we spent the evening scouring 3 baby name books and using nymbler.com and could not find one girl's name we both like. i literally hate all of his suggestions and he thinks mine are awful and "old lady." we are on totally different wavelengths! i am gravitating toward vintage, feminine, short and simple names and he is choosing long, modern, androgenous names.

this poor girl will never have a name! :argh:

BTDT!

I was convinced our baby would never have a name. SO likes traditional, popular names and I refuse to go with anything in the top 100. I finally found our name in just a random list on nameberry.com. Laszlo - the top boy's name in Hungary - just clicked for us and the conversation was suddenly over. We both love the name because it is appropriate to our cultural heritage, but NOT popular here!

You'll find something, I promise. And nameberry.com is lots of fun!

Names are hard! All of our kid's names have special meaning to us, as in they are from books/movies/shows that mean a lot to us. It has been tough so far trying to find something special for this little guy! Another fun name site is nymbler.com You can put in names you like and it will bring up similar style names. Maybe you could put in a few your like and a few your hubby likes and see what suggestions it comes up with!

Naming a baby is so hard! But I agree that one name really just clicks for both of you and the conversation is over. You still have time. Smile

Amanda, I feel the same way. Things just aren't "clicking" this time. But, I guess we have made a little progress since we've narrowed it down to about 3 names...Madison (his pick), Makenzie (my pick, which DH has vetoed, but I'm still keeping it on the list lol), and Noelle (which is my middle name). I don't know why, but I'm so anxious to have the name picked out already. It's driving me crazy!

Same here! DH decided that Natalie, Tara and Jason are names that don't repulse him but he doesn't know if he wants to name a baby either of those names. Thank goodness we still have plenty of time!

Erin, my DH really likes Madison, too. And while I think "Maddie" is a cute nickname, I already have a friend with a daughter by that name and another close friend with a dog by that name. Smile And Madison doesn't sound good with our last name, which also ends in "son." I like Noelle for your daughter! Such a pretty name.

My first choice is Clara. DH finally said this morning he would "think about it." And he also suggested Aria, which I don't hate as much as his previous suggestions but don't love either. I think we're going to have to somehow find some other name that we can both be excited about...

Same here. DH and I can't seem to agree on any names, mostly because everything I suggest he says, "No". I got pissed and asked him for suggestions and he doesn't have any yet...

That's good that he says he'll think about it! My DH just flat out says "no" if he doesn't like the name, which doesn't leave much room for negotiating! Lol

haha, that's okay, heidi. i am still obsessively trying nymbler and nameberry for ideas based on the names DH likes.

abby--that was SO my DH last time when we were trying to name DS. he didn't have any serious suggestions (he would suggest stupid made-up names just to rile me up) and he rejected all my suggestions. i finally made him sit down with a baby name book from the library and write down at least 10 names that he would accept (as in, if i like it, then the conversation is over...no changing his mind). 9 of the names on his list were terrible, but then Asher was on the list, and i loved it! and that's how we finally picked a name! that approach didn't work for us this time...i didn't like any of his top 10 girl names, but it might work for you, and it would at least force your DH to make some real suggestions. Smile

I hate picking out names! DH and I don't ever agree on any either. Our first DD we agreed but with Lexie he was totally against the name because our neighbor across the street has a daughter (a year older than our Lexie) and her name is Alexis but they call her Lexi. In the end, I always win though! Wink

That sounds like something my husband would do! It made me laugh.

But when it came to girl names (we won't find out until Nov 22 but we're choosing names before hand) he didn't like any of the names. I picked out names I didn't hear very often and he shot them all down or told me he knew people with that name and didn't want it. He even wen to say what some of the names made him think of right away. (I really like Sierra but he said no because he's military and the letter "S" is Sierra ha ha. There was also Bianca, Claudia, and Felicia I liked but he said no). We kind of agreed on the name Corina but then I started to not be so crazy about it (because wouldn't you know, I started seeing that name everywhere ha ha). Finally after seeing another name and hearing it so much it grew on me. I asked him and he said he liked the name. So we picked the name Savannah if we have a girl. It was mainly because I have a friend who lives on east coast the she's always going to the city Savannah and putting it on Facebook, so it grew on me.

I ended up writing names on a list for a boy and he narrowed it down to about 4 and then I ranked them from there. Since he liked the names he didn't have a problem.

Anyway, I hope you two find a name you both love. You still have some time before your LO arrives!

Savannah is such a pretty name! We are both originally from the South, so maybe we should find a pretty southern name, too. Smile

And Jen, I love both Lexie and Lindy...really cute. I love short names like those that almost sound like nicknames. Will daughter #3 have an "L" name, too?
