Elsie Alice joined our Family on Friday!! I can't believe that I'm a mom of TWO now ...
On Thursday night, we dropped Jace off at Grandma's house and went to see "The Hunger Games" (LOOOOVED IT!!). We got back at about 11:00, and climbed into bed. I slept surprisingly well .. I figured it'd be like Christmas Eve and I'd be waking up about every 15 minutes or so. Friday morning we finished packing my bag and headed to the hospital at around 10:00. By 10:30 I was admitted and they started to prepare me for my surgery. I was a bit nervous since I had already done the c-section thing before, and knew what to expect, but to my surprise (and elation!) the surgery was WAY easier than I anticipated ... AND because all of our family was taking care of Jace ... we were able to spend a little more time with our new baby before we got visitors!
We knew Elsie was going to be big -- we were guessing in the 9 to 9.5 lb range. We didn't know if it was a boy or a girl -- at one point during the surgery my dr said: "Jen ... it's a good thing we took him c-section because he's a big baby!" and I thought ... "it's a boy. I have a boy" At about the same time that Elsie started crying, another dr. said: "No, it's a girl! You have a girl" It almost ruined the adrenaline rushed "it'as a __________" that I was anticipating. I was a little disappointed in the experience for a minute -- I mean, I did wait an extra 20 weeks to find out the gender ... but then I realized that i have a DAUGHTER!!
We'll be in the hospital until about Tuesday -- I hope Elsie gets released that day! She's on an IV right now because she got a bit dehydrated ... but I think she'll be off of that by the end of the night.
I can't remember how to upload pics onto the program ... so here's my blog with her cute little face:
oh. P.S. "little Elsie" ended up weighing 10 lb 10 oz!! I'm glad she was c-section too!!
