first big purchase for baby, AND we have a name!

it's starting to seem real that this baby girl is coming! one thing i really wanted but didn't necessarily need, was an Ergo baby carrier. we already have a Moby wrap and a Baby Bjorn that we used for DS1, but I always hated the Bjorn because it hurt my shoulders and also didn't seem that comfy for baby. and the Moby only worked well for us when DS1 was a tiny baby. i plan to be wearing this baby a lot, even as she gets older, so that i can still chase DS1 around and also so that i don't have to worry about him poking her eyes out or something if i leave the room (like i don't envision being able to just put her in the swing and leave the two of them unsupervised...safer to have her strapped to my body). anyway, my mom gave me a gift card for christmas so that i could get the Ergo, so i just ordered it! yay!!!

and last night we finally settled on a name! i had given up the discussion and told DH we would just name her when she was born, but the last couple days he has started insisting that he wants to know her name, so we hashed it out and made a list (again) of the options, and she will be Clara Marissa! Clara has been my favorite since the beginning, but now i think DH is more excited about it than i am. and Marissa is my sister's name. it was DH's idea to use that, too. DS1's middle name is after DH's grandfather, so we wanted to use a female name from my side of the family this time. and DH and i both admire my sister so much, especially after all she's been through this past year while battling cancer at a young age. she started crying when we called to tell her we were using her name. Smile

I'm so happy for you that you decided on a name...and what a cute name! This naming business is tough!

I really really want an Ergo too. I registered for it at Babies r Us, but I'm not expecting to get one at my baby shower because it's so expensive. We still have so much left to get before this baby gets here...it overwhelms me just thinking about it!

i know! we still need a glider or some sort of chair for the nursery, a double stroller, a baby monitor and various other small things. it's going to add up quick! i'm trying to find some of those things on craigslist. i hope you get lots of great stuff at your shower! maybe you'll get some giftcards that will at least cover part of the Ergo?

Congrats on picking out a name! What a relief. I never thought that picking a name would be so difficult until DH and I didn't agree on a single name. Thankfully we finally were able to settle on one: Andrew.

On another note, I registerd for the Ergo and hope that I get it at my baby shower coming up next weekend!!

Even if you don't get it, the Ergo is the single best investment I have ever made in baby stuff! It's only in the past week or so that it's just too uncomfortable for me to wear my almost 2 year old! I got mine off Ebay for about $70 and if I knew then what I know now I would have paid full price 4 years ago with DD1. I super love babywearing and the Ergo is easy as can be to figure out. Hope you love it!

Congrats on the name! Claire and Marissa were on my list of first names. Love it! Man, I really need to get on the ball with buying baby gear. Time to look for sales!
