In the hospital :(

Well I am currently stuck in the hospital....I began hemmoraging and contracting every 1-3 minutes on wednesday and was rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital. They tried to stabilize me and then sent me to the high risk hospital in Toronto with a level 3 NICU (about 1.5 hours away from home). The bleeding and contractions have since slowed down but they are not letting me go home! Sad I am having such a hard time with this as I really miss my other 3 kids and want to be home for Christmas but at the same time need/ want my twin girls to be born healthy! I am currently 27 weeks 6 days pregnant and was told if the girls are born now they would have a 85% survival. It is soo scary being here! I recieved the steroid shots for their lungs and they are practicing breathing on the ultrasound, both girls are already over 2 pounds and growing good. The dr's say that I has a partial placenta abrubtion. I have no idea when I can go home, I was really hoping to be home for Christams as I have my 3 kids at home but as long as I am still bleeding and contracting they will not let me go! Sad I know being here is the best thing for the twins but it is soo hard! Has anyone else experienced this? How did it turn out? I'm praying everything turns around and I can go home for the remainder of my pregnancy!.

oh, I am SO sorry you're going through this! one of my college friends recently gave birth to preemie twins at 29 weeks. like you, she was admitted at 27.5 weeks (she was leaking amniotic fluid and having some contractions) and with rest in the hospital, she was able to make it 2 more weeks before the contractions turned into full-fledged labor and the babies were born. they are still in the NICU but doing great, off ventilators, drinking from bottles, etc.! and i've heard weight makes a huge difference in preemies, so it is really great that your girls are already over 2 pounds! and it's also really good that you are at the best hospital in your region for preemies because that makes a difference, too. but it's so hard that this is all happening during the holidays when you just want to be home celebrating with your kids! i will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope for the best possible outcome. keep us posted on how you're doing, okay?

Thinking of you..... I cannot imagine how scary this must be and how much you're missing your kids. Hang in there, healthy mama and healthy babies are the key. Smile

I haven't heard of this happening to anyone I know, but I agree with Amanda and Jen, keep those positive thoughts going. It's good that they caught this in time to stop it and give the girls the best chance possible. I hope that they get you stabilized enough to spend the holidays with your family. KUP, and we will all be thinking about you in the coming days and weeks.

*lurker* I"m sorry you're going through this Sad I have a preemie and was told in the hospital by the NICU doctors that statistically girls do better than boys. Must be our fighting spirit. Good luck, I hope you stop hemorrhaging and can make it home in time for the holidays.

Thanks for all the positive support! I have stopped hemmoraging, still having some mild contractions but nothing too bad! The Dr. still says that I can't go home! Sad I am hoping that maybe just maybe I will be home for Christmas!! I miss my kids more than anything, I have never been away from them for longer than a night! I know that everyday that the twins stay in is a better chance at survival and less time in the NICU but it is oh soo hard! Hopefully tomorrow the dr. says that things have turned around and I can go home! (positive thoughts). I will keep everyone posted! Thanks for the thoughts!!

I jumped back on tonight hoping for some good news, and I'm glad to get some. Christmas is still a week away so hopefully you will have plenty of time to stabilize and still be home for the holiday. Keep your spirits up!

I didn't get a chance to post earlier because for some reason it wasn't working properly for me, but I'm so glad to see that you're able to go home and that things are better!! Stay in bed and take this time to be pampered. Smile

Lurker...

Just wanted to say hang in there! I delivered my twins at 30 weeks after being in the hospital for 10 weeks and at home on bedrest for 8 weeks before that. You can do it!

I am so glad you get to be home with the other 3 kids for Christmas!
