Hypnobabies

Very Excited. Our Hypnobabies course came in today. I can't wait to start it. Even better Dh is completely onboard for this and he is looking forward to starting as well.

Went to my walking class last night (haven't gone in a month) and found out one of the ladies who also goes is a delivery nurse at the hospital where we are giving birth. She knows my Dr well and really likes her. Ironically her name is Joyce. I say ironically because my moms and my MIL's middle names are Joy and if this baby is a girl one of her middle names will be Joy Smile Joyce said that when we go in we should ask if she is working. I asked her about hypnobirthing and if she has seen women doing it yet and she said absolutely and then told me a wonderful story of a lady who came in on a busy busy night pregnant with her third child who used it and went through labour in the HALLWAY (because they were do busy) right up until it was time to push. They got her into a room just in time, and she gave birth on the stretcher. She said it was absolutely inspirational to watch her birth. Smile

that's really encouraging! i'm glad the nurse you met is so supportive and that would be awesome if you got to have her as your nurse!

you will love the hypnobabies. i listen the pregnancy affirmations almost every day while i walk around the neighborhood (it's the only one that doesn't require you to be lying down relaxing while you listen) and then i listen to one of the other tracks when i go to bed at night. if i don't listen to it (because i forget to charge my ipod or something) then i don't sleep nearly as well! and i've really found that it has completely changed my outlook on pregnancy, labor, and delivery. i'm actually looking forward to giving birth this time instead of fearing it!

I got mine the other day and I'm so excited to have it and get started on it. I'm really excited to see how well it works when the time comes. I've heard great things about it.

I listened to it a bit but not frequently enough and DS came early so I didn't practise enough. I tried listening to it during labour but I started too late and was in a lot of pain already - the first thing I heard was :"You deserve a pain free birth"... it bothered be at the time and I turned it off. It did improve my attitude toward childbirth tremendously and I remembered to relax as much as possible during labour because of it.

I love my hypnobabies! This is my first baby and delivery and I'm really hoping that everything goes great! I hope it all works great for you too! Also it feels great to have your husband on your side, doesnt it? My husband was leary at first, but now he's totally on board!

Do you guys know where I can purchase hypnobabies and a slightly lower price? I mean, if it exists. I'd be interested to listen....

you can buy it used on ebay...typically the winning bid ends up being around $100. and potentially you could resell it on ebay and get your money back when you're done. but don't tell them i told you that Wink technically, it says "not for resale" on the materials. on amazon it's $148 new. it happened to be discounted to $125 on amazon when i bought it. it IS a lot of money, but for me, it's worth it. the 6-week hypnobirthing classes at my local hospital are $165 (plus whatever i would have to pay a babysitter every week), so i would rather just do it at home on my own time. if we weren't due at the same time, i would totally lend you my materials when i'm done! i wonder if you could find someone who is done with theirs and would let you download the CD tracks onto your ipod/computer?

Thanks, I was looking on ebay and figured that was the best way. I didn't think to ask someone who had already given birth....

I didn't actually buy the whole hypnobabies package, I bought the $45 cd collection from amazon, and then I also bought Hypnobirthing The Mongan Method book. I wish that I would've bought the whole package with the books for at home classes, but I am enjoying what I have.

Oh I wish. Here is was 600 for the 5 week course and the instructor offered it all in one weekend (over 2 days) and you had to bring snacks to share with the class...

We did our first class last night. Dh read me the bubble of peace script while I was in the Tub, with the lights out and candles lit. We listened to the Joyful pregnancy affirmations when we went to bed. He fell right asleep. When I listen to it, baby moves around alot.

I didn't know you could get it on ebay. LOL... we paid 147 for it through the hypnobabies web site. I figure 147 instead of 600 is a much better price Smile

Lurker...
Just wanted to say that I LOVE hypnobabies! I used it with DS and will definitely be using it again this time. I still use the relax cue on a regular basis if I am feeling tense. It's so amazing...you will have times when you like that it is relaxing but you're not sure it is really working, and it is. Even if you think you fall asleep while listening to it, you aren't, you're just going deeper into hypnosis and not remembering when you "wake up." I had a quick, relatively easy and mostly painless birth and was amazed by the things my body was just doing without me really even having to think too much about it, it just "knew" all the cues and responded to them. It is well worth the price IMO! Good luck, you will love it.

Hi I wanted to bring this back to the front of the page. I just started reading the Hypnobabies book and listening to the hypnosis CD's. It was kind of awkward as my daughter was still awake but I wanted to at least listen. Once she fell asleep I listened to another but fell asleep and didn't hear the whole thing. I'm beginning to be unsure I will be able to utilize this. Any pointers or advice for those of you using this?

it's ok to fall asleep when you listen to it. As long as you open your mind to it, you will still receive the message on a subconcious level Smile

I find when I fell anxious at all, listening to my positive pregnancy affiramations really helps. And if you daughter sees you doing this, it will give her a positive outlook on chldbirth which my actually help her for when it's her turn. i have found that changing how I originally understood child birth to be was the hardest thing to change. It has really helped to block out the negative things I keep hearing about child birth too.

Listening before bed helps too
