Swaddling

Is anyone still swaddling their babies? It's just started getting really hot here and I'm afraid of overheating her, but she really loves to be tight and compact.

Yep, we're still swaddling too but usually only at night. That's mostly because she doesn't need to be swaddled during the day since the only place she'll nap is on me! It was 100 degrees today and I do think she would have been to warm to be swaddled...she runs really hot anyways. Thankfully it's been cooling off at night enough so it hasn't been an issue. I'm thinking I'm gonna keep a fan going in our room tonight to keep it nice and cool. Maddie definitely doesn't sleep well unless she's wrapped up tight.

it's really heating up here, too, but Clara sleeps so much better/longer when she's swaddled, so i'm still doing it. i have these muslin blankets that i LOVE (the brand is Aden and Anaias...i think Target sells them). they are so lightweight and breathable that i don't worry about her overheating. the flannel receiving blankets would probably be too warm, and she breaks out of those anyway. When I had my son last June, it was SUPERRR hot where we live. But we just kept the house very cool at night and only put a onsie on him, then we swaddled him. That helped him sleep so much. But you will probably just have to keep the house cool at night. We kept the thermostat at about 70.

I'm not sure how common this is, but Mason hasn't liked being swaddled from Day 1. I'm not sure if it's because he wasn't swaddled at all when he was in the NICU or what, but I tried it again the other day to see what he would do and he had a fit. He sleeps all sprawled out. Maybe he likes being free after being over-baked in my tummy! Smile

Thanks for the replies. I tried swaddling her in a onesie with a fan on and that did the trick. She slept really well. She ALWAYS manages to wiggle out, but for the most part, she slept better than she has been the previous nights. Smile

We are still swaddling here too it helps Aimee sleep so much better during the night.. We use swaddle sacks that we got from babies r us but we also seen them at target.. They work great!! They have thick ones and ones that are thin like a receiving blanket..

Jess, my baby is the same way! She won't sleep until her arms are freed!

That's funny because weren't you also a week overdue, Dee?
