? about telling new Job

I just got a new job and I start aug 13th. I just found out i'm pg and havent' told them yet. I go to get my ultrasound on the 2nd to confirm the heartbeat so I was thinking of telling them after that cuz we have to order scrubs and I don't want to order some that will get too small. I have to get a physical at my regular dr for the job and i was thinking of telling them that this is where i found out i was pg. what do you think? I know i don't have to tell them yet but my kids go to that church and everyone knows everyone so if they slip and tell someone they will know at my job. So would you tell them you found out at your physical after you heard the heartbeat? what do you think?

I would tell them after your u/s. I don't think it's wrong to tell them you wanted to wait until you knew everything was okay. I think most women wait until they have an appt and the dr tells them there is a baby safe and sound in there. I would hope they would understand.

I started a new job at the end of may/beginning of June but I've known by boss since I married my husband. She's a friend of his family, so she probably wasn't thrilled I started and immediatley got pregnant but I was very upfront and told her we were trying. She was the first person I told (besides DH) about our +, and she knew that I had a risk of ectopic because I may have needed surgery if that was the case. She runs an in home daycare so getting subs kind of sucks, but she's told me she wants me to come back after the baby is born if I'm up for it and will do whatever she needs to to get through my leave.

I hope your boss/ job is understanding and is happy for you. Having a baby is a really wonderful and exciting thing and it sucks when you have to be concerned about other peoples reactions, especially at work!

Wow that's nice you work for an in home daycare... can you bring the baby with you after he/she is born for free? i think i will have to take a yr off cuz id have to pay $700 a month for daycare.

I would just say you were waiting for the ultrasound. It's the truth and I think they should understand.

I won't be bringing the baby to the daycare. She wouldn't do a discount because baby would use a slot. you can only have a certain number of children. I will have him/her at the same daycare we will be using for our DD. I would love to have the baby with me but I only work two days a week and have class the other days so it would mean driving to two different daycares and then to my college 40 minutes away three days a week. This way I will just have to drop off at one place and then go to school or work. And my DH will help with drop off and pick up too. We haven't figured out a schedule yet, but we will soon. DD starts preschool 8/20. I would quit my job if i didn't have to go to school. I have to have daycare for those days anyway so i figure i might as well keep making a little money too.

well megan you just made me feel better about my crazy schedule. i've been thinking maybe working wasn't such a good idea but i'm sure i'm not the only one

I would tell them I was waiting for the u/s. Saying you found out at the physical kinda sounds like an apology for being pregnant.
