Appointment today

Had another prenatal appointment today, everything went pretty well.

I'm measuring right on where I should be and baby's HR is around 150 (it's typically been in the 150 to 160 range). I was even able to tell her EXACTLY where the heartbeat would be!

I asked about meds for nausea but the Doctor said all they can give me is diclectin, which I was on during my 1st pregnancy. It was horrible because it knocked me out and I could not function. Not an option this time since I have an 8 y/o and 2 dogs to deal with. She did say I can try gravol so I might give that a shot on days I'm really feeling crummy.

Glad you a good appt! I'm not really happy that you're 18 weeks and still having morning sickness, I was really hoping mine would go away. It's too bad you can't have Zofran there, it's an awesome medicine. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm just glad it's not as bad as my 1st pregnancy! That was horrible and I was near needing to be hospitalized, I couldn't keep any food or fluid down for the entire 9 months! Most days if I eat carefully (very small bites and just the right texture and flavors) I can eat a little bit and fluid isn't usually a problem. I'm still losing (down 2 more lbs from my last appointment) but baby is growing well and moving lots so the doctors are not concerned at this point.

I'm just one of those 'lucky' women who gets morning sickness longer lol

Yeah, I'm just a tad over 14 weeks and have been managing the nausea with Zofran, but last night - I threw up for 8 1/2 hours. Ugh. I was soooo exhausted at work today. Plus the doc told me I was dehydrated at my last appt, so I'm really trying to drink more, but it's not working. It's funny you mention texture because you're absolutely right! If I stick something in my mouth with the wrong texture, I'm gonna vomit. Right then.

That's great that you had such a good appt! I'm sorry about the nausea. Is it possible that you have some nutritional deficiency that could be making it worse? I'm not trying to cast blame, just brainstorming what could be causing it other than hormones. Smile

I don't think so, I eat pretty healthy 90% of the time and I'm taking my prenatals. I can't drink milk or eat much dairy but I've switched to OJ with calcium to compensate. I haven't been a milk drinker since my 1st pregnancy, there's only so many times you can throw up curdled milk before it turns you off lol.
I'm eating very small amounts so I try to make it count Smile

Crystal, I'm glad you said something about Orange Juice. I can't drink it without throwing it up immediately and ALL of it. I had talked to a few other moms and they all said the same thing, but you can stomach it? I guess it's just up to whomever...

As long as I'm not drinking it on an empty stomach or when I'm already nauseous. When I'm queasy the only thing I can stomach is tiny sips of ice cold water and occasionally some very cold ginger ale. I try to have my juice immediately after eating (even 20 mins give my tummy too much time to digest). That's what the nurse at the obstetrics clinic suggested and it seems to work. I'm not a juice drinker normally so I had trouble at first. It's very acidic. My usual beverages of choice are coffee, water and wine :/ so right now I'm 1 for 3 lol

Yeah, milk spikes my blood sugar, and since ds1, it upsets my stomach, too. At least I can still enjoy other dairy products. GL with the nausea!

Yay for the great appointment!

Sorry you're still feeling sick. Is taking a half dose of diclectin an option? I know that typically speaking, since diclectin isn't available, US mom's will take unisom + b6 but I only ever took half a unisom because I was so worry about it knocking me on my but. It worked enough that I was able to eat. Smile
