    Default bearing down like

Hey all, Are you guys getting this pulling down, and kind of pelvis expanding feeling? It's difficult to describe. I don't have regular contractions, though I do have some. I'm exhausted and have a cold. I just wanna lay down and sleeeeeep. Last week when I was checked I had not progressed more than the previous 1 cm. Maybe this bearing down and out feeling is the baby moving down and progress?

ETA: then with all this...I started having some contractions. For the past two hours I've been at regular contractions at 15 minutes each.

I assume it's just part of the 'progressing' part right? I never had anything happen in all of my previous pregnancies, with an exception to one premature child due to a bad complication. So, the rest of the times I was induced.

ETA: this is what I got from Webmd:

The first stage is the longest part of labor and can last up to 20 hours. It begins when your cervix starts to open (dilate) and ends when it is completely open (fully dilated) at 10 centimeters. When the cervix dilates from 0 to 3 or 4 centimeters, contractions get stronger as time progresses. Mild contractions begin at 15 to 20 minutes apart and last 60 to 90 seconds. The contractions become more regular until they are less than 5 minutes apart. This part of labor (called the Latent Phase) is best experienced in the comfort of your home.
so let's see! I don't hope for early labor but my husband IS off this weekend and on Monday so the timing wouldn't be horrible lol... half joking here. My ticker is a few days off and should be that I am just at 38 weeks.

I'm getting half hopeful and nervous.

Yep. Hopefully, it will go somewhere for you. In the past, I've had a ton of prelabor, so the feelings your describing (including the contractions) started about a month before delivery.

It certainly does sound like your body is getting ready! You're probably getting a head start on dilation!

I've had so much of that pressure! The last 2 weeks have been full of contractions and pressure. I'm now at 3cm and 50% effaced so it's doing something!

    Fingers crossed for you

I am really getting nervous. That pressure went away but my contractions have changed into normal plus very bad period like cramps very down low like exactly how a period feels. But it lets go then starts again. Im laying here timing them on my iphone to make of their patterns. Im just unsure if that period cramping is it. My entire belly is not aleays so tight

And the baby is bery busy down there. But my goodness these are bad cramps.

That's it! Don't pay too, too much attention to a pattern emerging--it might not. You'll know this is it if they don't go away and if they get more intense.

Well, I guess those weren't it last night lol. I was timing them, they were close together, but I was so exhausted I slept somewhere in all that. I can sleep through horrendous period pains. I kept waking up with the really, really bad ones. But I just breathed through them then slept again. I do worry about labor getting too close in the middle of the night and just bearing it and sleeping again.

Then I woke up and had bad diarrhea and now I have this heartburn like it's no one's business. o m g it's horrible. Antacids don't touch it. I felt like throwing up this morning and can't even eat a cookie w/o heartburn. I just want to sleep. I'm so freaking tired. I just don't have time to sleep today. One of my kids has half a day and now I have to leave and go get him - right at the time when the two LOs at home are supposed to take their naps. Maybe, just maybe I can convince the 5 y/o to cuddle with me while everyone takes a nap. Maybe I can bribe him with the ipad. I'm really that tired.

And I started drooling!!!! My pillow was soaked from drool. It's soooo gross. I got a towel and put under my face so I don't mess up my pillows and blankets. When I get up, I can't make it to the bathroom to pee, but the odd thing is that I have zero urge to go. I don't get that. And I have no way to squeeze and control. I don't what that's all about. I've been wearing big pads to keep from messing up everything.

Ok here is ONE really cool thing: I finally, finally got good skin. My skin has been dry and pimply. And now it's very smooth, moisturized, and nice looking. Too bad I'm too tired to look beautiful lol.

    i feel ya!

I've been on prescription meds for heartburn and tried to go off them this week. I was fine until 2 days ago, then the fire started and nothing would put it out. I am back on them now and it seems to be helping again. but it's taken 24 hours on them to get any relief.

Really? I didn't have trouble with hb until a few days ago. I mean, here and there but only if I ate something horribly spicy. Now I can't drink water or eat a cookie without my chest feeling on fire.

Do you think this is a sign for us? =) Oh and here's something, when I squat I can feel part of my cervix. It was soft. Does that mean anything?

Ok, here's a question, what if someone is 4cm or maybe even 5cm dilated but doesn't have regular contractions? Do they admit that person or send home til contractions start?

Soft is good, it means something is happening

I think it depends on your hospital's policy. As far as I understand here my hospital does nothing until you are in active labor or your water breaks, but it can vary for sure. We also can't elect to have a c-section or early induction. Medically necessary only (unless you are a repeat section)

I hope your little guy comes soon

Been there done that. It depends on the dr. Some drs use 4cm as the basis for diagnosing active labor. Others don't. For those who do, 4cm and nothing definitive translates to "failure to progress". The pregnancy I had that went that way was a planned hb, so my mw and I induced at home before the dr could declare a C.

The good news is that it would probably be fairly easy for you to jump start things with home remedies if you wanted to.
