When to tell?????

After the Dr appt on 8/16 I will go to store & buy matching "I'm the big brother" & "I'm the big sister" tshirts.

Should I have Owen & Brooke wear the tshirts to my MIL bday dinner at our house & invite my parents (which would not seem odd) on 8/18? I will be 10 weeks & that will just be the Grandparents OR should I wait a whole month until 9/23? I will be 14 weeks & I can have them wear the shirts at Owen's birthday party & everyone would be there BUT I would have to wait a whole month (not to mention I am a small girl & I might totally show before that where it is super obvious but maybe not).

I think 10 weeks is reasonable.

Dh and I agreed that we weren't going to wait to announce anymore after my lasts pregnancy failed. This time, the only reason we haven't told many people is lack of opportunity.

I think 10 weeks is reasonable, too. I was thinking of making FB public after our first OB appt at 10 weeks and 3 days. I know that once I have that US pic, I am not going to be able to keep it quiet!!

I think 10 weeks is fine. Weve already told our families. We have an appt at 10w5d and then will share on FB at 11w4d on our 3rd anniversary.

I'd say at least 10 weeks, just my own personal reasons like confirmation of h/b, dates, and making sure everything is going pretty normal. When the major risk of MC is done then out with it =D

i think 10 weeks is good too... where do you buy those shirts? i've never seen them in a store.

I've given up on waiting until I'm confident the pregnancy is going well. When I have had a m/c, the people who didn't know I was pregnant in the first place have felt blindsided by it (think parents). They are eager to support me in my grief, but were hurt not to have shared in the preceding joy.

That is also VERY context dependent. My first pregnancy did not work out, but we were excited and announced to everybody immediately. When we had to tell everyone that it had ended, one woman had the gall to tell me it's what I deserved for having announced so unfashionably early.

Anyway, all that will hopefully be completely irrelevant to TaraJean's pregnancy. But that's my experience of the politics of when to announce.

I think the 10 week plan is better. Announcing on another child's birthday may take the spotlight off him a bit much.

I say do it at 10 weeks! And share a pic of the shirts when you do it. That reminds me, I have to put our big brother shirt on DS3 for a picture. :) We told our families over the past week. But, we see the ILs several times a week, so once my severe m/s hit I knew we couldn't hide it long.

Well I almost was gonna tell today because I was so sick but I did not. I am going to do it at 10 weeks that is the best idea ladies thanks.
