Welcome! My DS2 does not have autism but does have several special needs including a cognitive delay so my heart goes out to you. I find that my biggest difficulty with him is other people and their lack of understanding. Dealing with the judgement of other's has become slightly difficult while pregnant and hormonal. How old is your son? Mine is 6.

Anyway, my name is Danielle and I'm technically due at the end of February but I'm here pretty often. I look forward to getting to know you!

I'm thankful that my son has some verbal skills though most people don't understand anything he is saying. When they measured the delay last (in November) they found that he was cognitively less than 3 years so his speech isn't the greatest but he will be working with a speech therapist at school so it may improve. There is a good possibility that his delay is from his eosinophilic esophagitis which scares me because that may mean that it will never go away. He didn't start really speaking until he was closer to 3 or so. I had tried to teach him sign language but he also seems to have some fine motor difficulty so he couldn't form the signs. Sad
