I just heard that I'm not supposed to be drinking crystal light now that i'm pg? Is that true? I only have about 1 glass per day and then after that it's water but am i not supposed to drink aspertame at all?

Honestly Gina you no one should drink aspartame ever. Pregnant women especially though.

Natural sweeteners are always better, just in limited amounts.

:lurk:

......When I was carrying my son I had a BCBS and they assigned a nurse to following through out my pregnancy since I was 35 years old.. it was pretty cool because they would call me once or twice a month or if I had little question I could call and ask; anyway....I didn't like to drink water because it was boring... she told me that I could drink one glass to break up the " hum-drum" of drinking water....to be on the safe side, you may need to speak with your doctor. I heard that too. No artificial sweeteners and definitely no aspartame. I didn't realize then that I was drinking a teeny but if diet coke here and there...clearly I'm going to have to give that up next time. I was so sad about Crystal Light though. I did buy a Kroger brand that said it's all natural but still says aspartame in the ingredients...it lies. Lol.

I am diabetic and allergic to aspertame so I never have it. I do have stuff with splenda occasionally but not often. When I was pregnant with Robbie they said that sweeteners were ok in small amounts.

If we all knew EXACTLY what kids of things were in the food we eat (nitrates, carcinogens, additives, chemicals) we'd all be horrified and I'm sure we'd starve lol

A great way to break up the plain water is to cut up fruit and put it in a jug with the water in the fridge.
Here is a link with a few recipes.

I've gone to a raw food diet because of all the documentaries I have watched about the processed foods, meats...etc. It's amazing how many unnatural chemicals are used.

I know it's rather disgusting, I try to stick to local organic meat and veggies. I make my own breads, and jams etc so I know exactly what's in them. I'm very lucky where I am, our small city is basically surrounded by farm land and there are several to chose from. We have a veggie box delivered weekly and can either pick up our meat at the local market on Saturdays or order direct from the farm and have it delivered to the house!

Hope you don't mind me lurking!

You are in the US so try the Crystal Light Pure lemonade (I think they have a grape flavour too). The only "sweetener" is stevia in it, which is an extract made from a herb called stevia that is totally safe and natural and the FDA says it's safe during pregnancy.

I wish I lived in the US because this stuff is amazing! I always buy boxes and boxes of it, tear them open and stuff the little packets in my suitcase when ever I visit the US so I can take them home!

I would not drink aspertame regardless just because it is an artificial sweetner (falls under the too good to be true rule for me). That being said I agree with the other ladies & I would not worry too much. Your body is a remarkable filter.
