Thread: Not looking good (m/c ment) UPDATED

I had a ob appointment today. They did an in-office u/s due to the spotting. Doc said that it didn't look like she would have expected but, as she wasn't confident of her u/s skills in early pregnancy she would send me to a radiology clinic. The appointment showed baby measures 5 weeks with gest sac and yolk sac. The dates are too far behind my expected dates (6w), plus they expected to see hb at this point. They will rescan in 12 days to confirm (if don't m/c by then) but I'd say I'm out.

BTW - Due to temping and BD timing I am sure of O date

As of this morning I have lost all my symptoms. Didn't get up to go to the bathroom the past two nights, bbs are no longer full and heavy (not quite back to normal but almost there), no nausea, sore back gone, etc. Plus I had a little spotting yesterday and this morning.

I think it is only a matter of time

I'm so sorry... but dont' give up all hope yet. they were 2 weeks behind on my son's dates and he was born right on time and the perfect size too. i'll keep everything crossed for you

I am so sorry. I just had an ultra sound yesterday and we only saw the sac. I'm 5 weeks and my doctor was happy with what he saw. I'm hoping that your little bean is well and that you get good news at your next ultra sound.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. What pp said above is right though u/s can be off as much as a week. They are measuring something very, very, tiny. And as for seeing a hb even if you were measuring 6 wks that would be iffy. Not everyone sees a hb at 6 wks some have to wait until 7. With two of my past babies I measured small for dates at my first u/s then on u/s a few weeks later I had gained the week back I lost. My MW said 5-6 wk u/s are unreliable on measurements and a scan at around 8 wks is optimal for correct measuring. It is scary whenever you spot and it can be a bad sign but it can also be nothing. Oh sweetie I'm so sorry to hear this! I'm hoping that they just don't know how to do an early u/s. That sounds exactly like my first u/s. I was supposed to be 6 weeks and thought maybe we'd see a hb but there was just a gestational sac and a yolk sac. I was a little worried at first but the doc said it wasn't really that unusual that it was just too early but everything was where it was supposed to be and that it was hard to see but the baby was there. At the next u/s it showed that I was measuring behind by about 4 days (which had nothing to do with the loss I ended up having. Everything was normal up until then). It sounds to me like it could just be too early. It depends a lot on when you implanted too and exactly how slow or fast of a riser you are with your hcg. Some people just go up super super fast after a point and some people continue to double every 48 hours which is totally normal. Might take a little longer sometimes to see something in the uterus as you have to be well in the 1000s before they can see anything. I'm keeping everything crossed that it's just too early to see and that when you go back in 12 days you'll see that beautiful little hb.

We didn't see anything more than a yolk sac at 5w5d. We saw a heartbeat at 6w5d.

I will keep thinking sticky thoughts for your bean and hope everything is going to be okay. I am so sorry you are going through this.
