    Default saying hi

    Hi Everyone,

I am almost 7 weeks and this our 5th baby. I'm still kind of in shock. We were thinking we were finished, but we got a surprise. I love all of my children and am very happy to have them all. We had a lot of issues in the beginning of our marriage getting pregnant and staying pregnant, but now look.

I haven't told my mom yet. She is going to freak out to the nth degree. I am thinking to email her a picture of my ultrasound when that time comes. I am still kind of in denial. Sometimes I have symptoms at all and sometimes I'm so tired I can't function and then get a few waves of nausea. Somehow I just don't feel so confident in this pregnancy. I don't know if it's me feeling like I can't believe I will have 5 children or if I feel somewhere inside of me that something may happen. I might be completely not making sense!

Anyway, nice to see you all here.

Welcome and congrats. I'm sorry that your mom isn't very supportive. I think that would make it harder to be excited, not that you aren't of course! I'm sure that with the shock and worry it's causing those insecure feelings about this little one. Also, if you have four children to take care of, I'm sure that you don't notice all the pregnancy symptoms...you're too busy. I hope that your worries are eased and that you have a happy and healthy nine months!!!

welcome! I hope you mom reacts better than you expect. I'm a little nervous about telling people, too. We're expecting #4 and #1 is only 4 1/2. I hope everything turns out fine with the pregnancy and you are able to get excited about the idea of a 5th baby. Good luck.

    thank you ladies!

Pico, you're in a similar situation I was in last year. My kids are very close together in age. Right now my oldest is 6.5 lol and due with the 5th baby. My mom freaked out when I told her I was expecting my 4th baby. I wasn't going to tell her then so soon. It just happened that she called me and told me she was on her way to visit from such a long way away and so I told her. I thought she dropped the phone then I heard her say O M G. You're kidding me. Like, not in a happy way. It's not even that we're bad parents at all or that we can't support our kids. We're great parents and she also thinks so but .. she just has her own views. Literally every few weeks she asks me, you're not pregnant again are you??? When I was pregnant with my baby she said I hope this is your last. You're not planning to have anymore right? Comments like this is just making me not want to talk to her.

Last year I had a tough year with an incredible amount of major, major life changes going on all at the same time. So she saw me stressed out. But, this year and forward should be easier. Life has bumps, so what?

    sorry for the long vent..

Sorry she's so eager for you to be done. I hope your mom comes around and gets excited by the time baby arrives. Do you have other people around who will celebrate a 5th rather than criticize you? If so, maybe you should tell them first. I'm excited for you!

Thankfully, my mom is a big fan of lots of grandkids. She had 4 kids and did in-home daycare while we were little. But... most people aren't going to react that well, I think. I almost wish I could say baby was a surprise. And if we go beyond 4. Oh my. I'm only 28, so it's a real possibility. We might be done after this, but who knows.

welcome and congrats on #5! My mom is the same way with my sister. She has 4 kids but her and her husband didnt' get along (now divorced) and my sister is constantly asking for a babysitter so she feels like it's a burden for her as well. So she says comments like that where she says "I hope this is your last one" etc. I hate when she says that stuff because it's none of her business and it's mean but i can understand her point if she's constantly burdened with her kids. So I understand but I don't like it. I was afraid to tell her about me. She acted excited but i'm sure she's telling my sister all about how I should have let things be cuz I had 2 and they are a boy and a girl so it's perfect etc. I guess my sister is getting paid back for all the times I had to hear about how she should have done things LOL. DOn't let it get you down. Sometimes moms are very judgemental but it's not their business. Just enjoy your pregnancy! And, who doesn't love a baby once they are here!

    thank you all!

It's just so funny because you'd think I was such a burden on HER. She lives like 1400 miles away and comes to see me once a year or less than that, about when I have a baby and once she stayed for 3 days after I had the baby, a week in total and last year she did stay for a month and completely shocked me. My kids stress them both out so they don't like to come. And I didn't ask either. It's just her own feelings and I am going to ignore them and let her worry about her own feelings.

I am going to wait though before telling to make sure the baby is ok and all. I had quite a lot of spotting and cramping for the past few days. I'm a little worried about it so let's see. My insurance doesn't kick in until the first unfortunately so I can't really go get seen. According to my dates next week I'll be 8 weeks and pretty sure about them. I am really good at picking up the fetal heart beat on a fetal doppler so I'll get one of those next week and hope for the best unless I get an appointment earlier to see an OBGYN.

I am currently pregnant with my 4th and was scared to share the news with people at first too. Not my mom, but my dad. After my 3rd was born he said many of the same things, as well as some friends of mine. When I finally did let the cat out of the bag (after having an ultrasound where we saw the baby's heart beat) I let the cat out of the bag. And, to my surprise, my dad, and most everyone else, were very supportive I did get flack from a couple of people, but they were people that really have no baring in my life, and were just sticking their noses where they didnt belong. It sounds like your mom has a lot of opinions on what you "should" do. I, personally, would tell her not to should you. That this is your life, your family, and that if she cant be happy for you then thats on her and she should keep it to herself.

Congratulations! Sorry to hear family isn't likely to be supportive, that takes some of the fun out of it
