what a mess!!
DD woke us up at around 2:30 this morning, she wanted to sleep with us because of water dripping from her ceiling. Umm what water??? DH went down to investigate and it turns out the toilet in our bathroom was leaking into her bedroom, soaking the cheap laminate floor. Yay :bawl: he turned the water to the toilet off and it seemed to fix the problem for the time being.
Fast forward to this morning, we survey the damage and DD's room now needs more than paint and new trim, it's turned into more of a gut job thanks to water damage. WE decide to move her to the guest room and we'll eventually turn her room into a playroom/guestroom (we have to move the playroom downstairs to make room for baby), I had already bought new paint for her room anyway so now I paint the other room instead, no big deal right?
DH mean while has removed the toilet to figure out what caused the leak, and discovered way more water damage than we suspected (some from before we bought the house!) so up comes the floor.... now we have to fix drywall and replace the bathroom floor, off to the hardware store we went! Looking at our flooring options (of which there were few) we opted for ceramic tile (almost no options in vinyl and no peel and stick like I wanted) so a minor job just turned huge!
Great :( just how you want to spend your pregnancy, huh?
I hope you dd is taking the change of rooms well.
She's super excited, when we moved in she had her choice between the 2 rooms and she decided on the smaller one. Now she's getting bigger room with a queen size bed! It will be very grown up when we're done.
My main issue is that until the floor in our bathroom is finished we have to go downstairs, which means trudging down the stairs several times a night for me :(
HUGS Crystal! That sucks.
Happy 12 weeks my friend ;-)
Crystal, I know this is totally sucky, BUT regardless, man are you lucky to have a handy hubby!!! If that happened to me, it'd be 'plumber to the rescue'! Lol. Once my hubby tried to fix a leaking pipe in the basement. That turned into a hot water sprinkler system. Yay. ;)
I am very lucky! The idea of calling an emergency plumber at 3am on Friday night would not be an appealing one. Eala's new room is done and looks fantastic! Her old room I'm planning to start ripping apart next weekend. That will be a much longer project since it involves flooring, trim, paint, a new baseboard heater, scraping the plaster off the ceiling (it was a half @$$ DIY job by the previous owner and was destined to go anyway) and some new shelving to make it work as a playroom and guest room.
Here's some pics of the new room!
Beautiful job on Eala's room!
That's darling! I love the tree!
